Jane, my moniker on the forum is "quilton". I'm very gabby. Its a pretty young forum and not too many members. I was so thrilled to see another Canadian on board. There are five of us, but only 2 regulars. so very glad you've joined us.

Hi Jane,

Are you the same Jane that just signed up at the Coming together To Quilt forum? I'm on that one and I'd like to welcome you. Its a small forum, in comparison to this one. Write back and let me know, okay. I can help you out over there. The ladies are fantastic.

Hi there. SBS is shorthand for Sylvia's Bridal Sampler. The last thing I needed was another quilt project since I have plenty unfinished waiting for my attention. But I am having fun working through the 6 and a half inch blocks, one by one.....

Hi Jane - lovely day, isn't it? I did indeed manage to visit the Cotton Patch whenever I visited Halifax, while still living in Ottawa. Avonport has become a favourite destination whenever I can't avoid the temptation to get out and look at new fabric. Some very good bargains.

I should be out gardening but am printing off paper foundations for the SBS sampler. I have a friend on the west coast and we have both signed up to try the SBS project as a retirement project - 18 blocks down, 128 to go...

Hi Jane. I tripped across your name on Dianne Decker's page and noticed that you are in Porters Lake. Nice to find someone else in the local area on the CT site. I live in Hubley, about 5 or 6 minutes past Bayers Lake.

Do you belong to any of the local quilt guilds? I have just sent in a membership application for Mayflower. Really disappointed to see so few places to buy quilt fabric here at home - I've lived in Ottawa for some time, before retiring back home, and they have a very large number of shops, lots of places to get new ideas. I am doing more on line shopping here as a result. Not that I really need any more fabric....

Jane, I know it has been miserable in PEI too. It wasn't that nice while I was there either. I think they are having a nice day today but I am not sure as I talked to my sister early and she said it was cloudy and Mom said it was spitting rain and then I talked to my sister-in-law in Charlottetown and she said it was nice. It started off miserable here his a.m. and then it got nice and the sun is out but it is staying so cool. Can't sit out and enjoy the sun. Doesn't make me feel so bad when I know everyone is having the same thing. Out west they are hot and dry and down in the Texas they are hot and dry and that is about the extent of the hot and dry. Oh well soon we will be complaining about the snow again. (ha) Never happy, eh?

Welcome Jane to Quilting Canadians. You will love this group I am sure and we do have fun. Everyone is so helpful and it great just getting to chat back and forth across the country. I see you are from NS. I was in Halifax about a month and half ago. I was home to PEI and took Mom over to the rheumatologist in Halifax. It was the hottest day of summer I think. It was so hot that day, it wasn't even nice to get out of the car. Anyway hope you have a great weekend and enjoy your quilting. Looking forward to seeing some of your photos.

Oh, of course! Thanks Jane. Our thoughts weren't even going in that direction. Thanks for bringing us back on track.

Hi Jane. It has been a few days since I spoke with you. Hope all is well. My friend and I are sitting here looking through the site and all the comments and we are both suffering from 'brain-deadness', what does YBR stand for. Please and thank you.

Jane it sounds like you are a busy lady. We have two Guilds here and one does baby quilts for the NICU at the hospital and the other guild does a variety of quilts for the Womens transition house. I belong to both so keep my hand in on those. The group that I retreat with in the fall we do themed blocks throughout the year and then at the retreat we put the blocks together and finish them up and give them to another charity. I have to get some of my own quilts done as I'm getting behind on some them, I have three baby quilts to do at the moment, two for sale and one for our new Grandson, one retirement quilt for our Manager and a consignment one for a gentleman from Vancouver. So like most quilters we do manage to keep ourselves busy. I do need to get finished with this working full time though it gets in the way of the quilting fun, but I only have 74 more working days of that, then 'I'll just be tired' (or at least that's what I've been told), because you still have no time. Anyway, it all sounds great to me, one chapter of life to the next. I had major surgery earlier this year so while I was in recovery I could only do hand work so I did great guns on my Grandmothers Flower Garden. Those little hexagons are very addicting. I see by the clock that it is probably around your supper time so hope you have a wonderful evening. Talk to you again soon as I would like to hear about your progress on your projects.
