About Me
I have lived here in Nebraska for 15 years now; I was born and raised in eastern Washington state. I have been married for 30 years and have 3 grown children. Music is a big part of my life with piano at church and French horn in the community band. I also enjoy reading, though I don't seem to have much time for that. I'm hoping to be able to do more quilting, reading and music once my youngest child goes off to college in a couple of months. Okay, well, my daughter is now at college but I'm still so busy I haven't stepped foot in my sewing room. Maybe someday!
Hobbies and Interests
quilting, paper piecing, embroidery, knitting
My pets are awesome!
2 dogs (Bear and Jonah); 1 cat (Little Kitty)

Here you go, Pam - another post!

Happy New Year to each and every one of you!  I hope that the new year brings only good things to all of us.  Here is a picture of the Jacob's Ladder quilt I made for my son, Jake, for Christmas.  I think he likes it, not too bright or too busy of a pattern.…

I finished it before the deadline!

I finished the quilt for my son, Austin, before the deadline!  I put the last stitch in the binding last night at midnight.  This is the quilt that I designed using the CT Kit Builder and the CT Mastermind collection of fabrics.  My son is an electronics engineering wizard who is leaving on Thursday for his summer internship in Indiana and I wanted him to have this quilt to take with him.  It took many late nights (and I may have called in sick one day - don't tell anyone!) but it was worth…

Am I crazy or what!?

Posted on April 15, 2012 at 6:45pm 9 Comments

I just ordered a bunch of the CT Mastermind fabric to make my second son, the electronics engineering wizard, a queen-size quilt plus a couple of pillowcases!  I used the Kit Builder, which made it really easy.  I put together 4 different layouts, then emailed them to him and let him pick which one he wanted.  We got on Google Mail Chat and were able to instantly tweak some of the fabrics so it will be just the way he wants it.  Isn't modern technology wonderful?  The crazy part is because I…

Hey Jeannine - I thought I'd let you know that I'm back online again and back to checking on my favorite groups again.  (as well as facebook).  I posted a comment in the Around the Quilt Frame group if you want to go read it, but I decided not to put one on the main page.  I euthanized both Honey & Daisy today after school.  I think Lulu is finally realizing that those two are not coming home.  I took tomorrow off because I just couldn't face students yet.  Hopefully I will feel better by Tuesday.  At least the end is almost in sight for school.

Hi Jeannine- I noticed you were from NE and looked at your profile. I was born in Columbus and my mother's family are from Schuyler! Small world. We live in Syracuse,NY... I don't get back often! I did have a family quilt and journal that traveled throughout NE last summer to various relatives of my grandmother. It was in a lot of the local county fairs my grandmother exhibited in. I'm sure the area has really grown...

Hi Jeannine!  I saw you online and thought to tell you that I just passed through Columbus on my way to Wayne to visit my daughter in college!  Columbus sure has grown a lot!  Next time, I will have to let you know so I can stop and have an iced tea with you or something so break up the trip!

Mom's battery was dead, so it's charging now and we will take a picture of her latest 1600 quilt when I head back home on Monday.  Have a good weekend!

Oh, and Happy Valentine's Day to you too.  :-)

Give her this link:

http://www.community.knitpicks.com/

Knit Picks is part of the same company as Common Threads, and they have a very active Knitting Community. There is a sock group and a group called "Ask the Fairy Godknitters," where you can go for help. The book that helped me the most for socks is Charlene
Schurch's Sensational Knitted Socks, but I also like Cat Bordhi's Socks Soar on Two Circular Needles for learning how to make socks with two circular needles, my preferred method, although many people prefer double-pointed needles or a method called Magic Loop, done with one 32" or longer circular needle. If she goes to the Knitting Community, have her look me up. My name's the same there as here. Thanks for being my friend, even if you had an ulterior motive, LOL!

Thanks for the compliment.  I use Morning Glory Great Glory extra loft poly batting and can only find it at Hobby Lobby.  I have used it exclusively since i started quilting, with the only exception of when I'm doing a table runner or tree skirt as I don't want the puffy look on those.  BTW Happy belated birthday.  :~)
