Since i need to practice practice practice, i asked some friends for material that they will probably never use, and my nieghbor who is a quilter is ecstatic, cuz she has tons that she doesn't like but like the rest of us, won't throw away. so that is good news. this way, i will only need to buy the thread and batting...my other friend at work is going to see what she has, she's mainly a sewer. but fabric is fabric after all!

Jo Ann, I do have the book on Ebay. The mosaics are easier than they look. I will certainly add Josephine Baker to my list. I have a lot of faces to do and I constantly add more. I have just finished Dizzy Gillespie. Thanks so much for your compliments.

I do have a few pieces of fabric that I'd rather put in a frame and not cut up. I have even thought of draping it into a wall sculpture as art and changing it when the feeling say so. Hey, that is a good idea for Spring decorating. I have dyed fabric for specific colors that I was unable to locate. We had a ball dyeing fabric. It can be so addicting!

The quilt is Marilyn Monroe. Thanks so much for the compliment. I do have one ready to do Katherine Hepburn and a few other movie stars from that era. I may do them in sepia tones. I really do like color, so maybe not. Smiles, Diana

Yes, I love wworking with African fabric. It took me a while to find the courage to cut them up and use in a quilt. I purchase a lot of my fabric from an import store in L. A., Ca., in the garment district. The fabrics are traditional and the fabric has it's origin printed in the selvage or a authencity label. The rest I purchase wholesale from a distributing company.

I hope that it is okay to leave this link here. I do have Simply Amazing Quilted Photography books for sale on Ebay. This is the link: http://stores.ebay.com/Quilts-by-Diana There is another book, More amazing Quilted Photography. One is is mosaic quilt that requires sewing and the other is fusing the fabric. The method that I am doing now is not in a book yet. The first book takes you through the steps of making the quilt. My first quilt was of the Mona Lisa and I did it without taking a class. I also teach both of these classes here, in Las Vegas, and every one looks amazing!

They may even sell the book in Connecting Threads. Diana

Hi Joann, We don't have quite as much snow as you do, but I know you get alot more then we do here in Washington CO. We are from north of you originally. We are from Elk Co. (ridgway) but we moved down this way about 10 years ago when there was no job up that way and DH went back into the coal mines. We hope to retire up there.
I hope you are right about the Steelers winning. The Cards looked pretty good, of course so are we LOL I don't watch to much hockey only between Football & Baseball. Of course Pirates are my fav. Love your long arm machine I have dreams of owning one someday.
Have a great night!!!
