Completed Southern Stars Quilt

Here is a picture of my completed Southern Stars quilt. Thank you Kristen for hosting this group. I really enjoyed making and sharing the process with this group. I wanted to try CT's fabric and ordered a fat quarter sample. I loved working and the feel of the fabric. When I came across the Southern Stars group, I thought, hey, this project would be perfect for these fabrics. This was my first on-line quilting group. I am hooked! I had so much fun. I have joined Darlene's Slackers - and these la… Continue

Joan Amling

Hello from North Aurora, IL

Just wanted to say hi. I just joined last week and came back out to the site tonight to see what is offered. I have been quilting for three years, and spend all my free time checking out quilting sites and buying fabrics or working on my multiple projects that I start and am trying to complete. I really like the fabric collections that connecting threads have to offer for such a reasonable price. I have purchased 1 of each color of their threads also. I work full time as a bookkeeper and can't w… Continue

Hi, Joan.

I agree that we should reschedule our lunch date for another time in August so that all of us can meet together. I will be gone on the 8th, and I am not sure about the 15th. Even the 22nd might be OK. I will let both of you know. I am still looking forward to meeting you!

By the way, your Southern Stars quilt is amazing! I never picked out my border fabric, so the top is another UFO in my drawer. I must get to it before winter so I can enjoy it.

I'll email you soon when I know what's going on with the Saturdays.

Hello Joan,
I just emailed Quiltlady to let her know too...I won't be able to make it on Saturday because I am having some work done on our house and I have to be home. I hope we can meet up in the near future. Sorry! :(

No plans finalized yet. So I guess we should decide on a time and place.
Have any suggestions?

Sat. Aug 8th works better for me than the 1st. I will be volunteering at the Downtown Aurora Live event and was told that we will have to be there until about 10:30pm (at least!)....so I don't know what type of condition I will be in the following Sat. morning!! HA! Hopefully my back will be doing better by then too! We were only out there for just less than 3 hours last Friday before they cancelled the event because of the thunderstorm...gee what a doozy! I was hurting a bit afterwards so I hope I start feeling "normal" soon....... my friends would be chuckling right about now at the normal statement!!!! But hey! That's what makes life interesting ... isn't it?!?!?!?!?!

Hi Joan!
I just wanted to tell you I like the bold colors you are using on your blocks (witht the black). Very cool! I can't wait to see your other blocks.... good idea!

Hi, Joan.
I just sent an email to Silvia. She would be OK for meeting for lunch on a Saturday, then maybe shopping afterward. I suggested to her that we could avoid the 59 traffic/congestion and maybe go somewhere up on Randall. She said that idea would work. Could you be available August 1 or 8? Those dates seem OK for her. I'll have to double-check my calendar also. It sure would be fun to meet! Let us know about your schedule, too.

Hi, Joan.

Sorry we never got together yet! Your Southern Stars is beautiful! How did you quilt it? I have my top done except for the borders, and I don't know how I want to quilt it.

Hope you are enjoying the summer. It would be great if we could still get together!

Hi Joan!
I just read Darlene's tips for foundation (paper) piecing. They are very good tips. Take a peek! I went to quiltfabric today and picked up some fabric for this quilt. I also picked up some for a quilt that I want to do for my daughter (she has been pestering me to make her one!)
