About Me
A former garment sewer, I have been quilting now for about 8 years. Four years ago three friends and I started a quilt group. There are 15 members, we make a quilt a month, donating it to a local hospital to give to patients. I'm a wife, mother and grandmother, a bible study teacher, a political junky. My husband and I have recently moved to a retirement community.
Hobbies and Interests
quilting, applique, paper piecing, machine quilting, embroidery, crazy quilting, knitting
My pets are awesome!
Had to "loan" my dog, Bogey to my daughter when we moved.

New Avante 18 Handi Quilter

I have taken the big step into a mid arm quilter.  I am SO excited.  They set up my machine a couple of days ago and are coming for the instruction session tomorrow.  I have a couple of king size quilts in the making and there is no way I was going to restle them through the throat of my Bernina trying to quilt it. Now to learn all of the ins and outs.  I have never felt good about doing all of the piecing work and then handing it off to someone else to put the finishing touches on my quilts.  Thank you wonderful husband, Don for the special gift.  What a guy!!

Mid Arm

Posted on June 3, 2011 at 8:38am 14 Comments

My new mid arm quilting machine has been delivered and set up. I'm like a kid in a candy shop. What fun and now can complete some of my UFO's...no more handing them off to a quilter to put the finishing touches on.

Morning Joan sorry I haven't been checking up on my page lately.  Been busy with my mom  and daughters car problems.  I didn't make it to the puyallup show but there is a "innovations" show that will be in September at the Tacoma convention center this year.  I am trying to time off work for that one. It is a longarm quilting show expo but I can't resist seeing the quilts.  I know that they have classes for everything.

HI Joan glad to have you as a friend as well.  Love the puppy, but then I love all the puppies!  I wanted to go to the expo but I worked and then my daughters car broke down and ect ect ect....  I think there is a show at the Tacoma Dome in August.  I think I'm taking that weekend off work!

Hi Joan, I would love to be your friend. Your have made some beautiful quilts. I love the one that you did for your sister and also the back. I have 3 baby quilts to make, 1 in Feb., 1 in May and for a great grandson in July. I have lived in Woodinville for over 34 yrs. Watched it grown and change. I don't know when, but somewhere down the road, we will move, but don't know where. We want a 1 level house instead of our split level. Would love to meet you for lunch some day in Renton or South Center. Have a Happy New Year.

Joan:  Des Moines...my hubby's old stomping grounds.  He used to live in a condo near the water some eons ago.  We met when we worked at Washington natural Gas in downtown Seattle...on Mercer St.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I love that quilt too and it's not mine.    It was a quilt that was being displayed at the quilt show at Houston.  Look forward to getting better aquainted.  Happy new Year.
