Harriet Hargrave

Just completed Harriet Hargrave's Heirloom Machine Quilting Boot Camp. Fabulous! Harriet has very traditional tastes, which I love, but the class is adaptable to anyone who wants to produce quality quilts. I have been quilting for years... but I learned things in this class that will make me so much better. We discussed quilting the quilt, which starts with planning your quilt, a small amount about piecing and proper ironing, understanding the different kinds of thread options and the different… Continue

So excited!

I will be going to Denver, Oct 10th, and attending Harriet Hargrave's Heirloom Machine Quilting Boot Camp. I have been wanting to go for 3 or 4 years and with school, just couldn't do it. I can't wait to spend 5 days dedicated to quilting. No dinners to fix, no kids to help with homework, no interruptions! Loading my suv with enough stuff to keep me busy for 3 weeks probably, but i have been known to sew all night. LOL

What a difference

I needed a better picture of our Family Tree quilt for a family book cover, so my husband built a frame for me to hang my quilts on the side of the shop/barn. I cannot believe the difference having the quilt hanging properly makes for the quality of the picture. I will be replacing several of my quilt pictures now that I can do it right. Just a hint when you are taking your own pics. Have a grand day.

Clearing more scraps!!

Posted on February 6, 2010 at 10:33am 2 Comments

Made 5 lg square hot pads and 2 lg round pads out of scraps from a western quilt. I posted a picture of the quilt on my site here and didn't like it so well. So.... took it partially apart and added another row of log cabin blocks with the leftover fabrics and then really had too few scaps to save.... hotpads it was. Turned out cute and I have some new hotpads that I need anyway and a few less scraps in my room.

Judy, I found pieces of that fabric, but just scraps.  Here's what I have:

1 - 7" x WOF (width of fabric)

1 - 12" x 13" piece

1 - 5" x 8" pieces

2 - roughly 3" x 5" pieces

I live in a pet-free, smoke-free environment.  This fabric has not been washed.  You are welcome to what I have, but I'm afraid it won't be enough to do much good.  If you add me as a friend, I'll message you privately to get your address.  Wish I could be of more help.  I actually have yardage of some of the other prints in this line.

Hello Judy.  I love the photos of your quilts.  Very nice!  I am very familair with the Panhandle as my stepson grew up in Panhandle, TX and is now at Texas Tech in Lubbock.  So we have made and continue to make several trips to Texas from Kansas.  There is a shop in Pampa, TX that I love to stop at and also one in Amarillo that I really like.  It has more books than I have ever see a shop have!  Anyway, nice job on your quilts.  Paula from Topeka, KS. :-)

Judy, I'm in the Northeast corner of the state, close to KS and MO. It started snowing here this morning about 7 and hasn't quit since. Are you close to Borger or Amarillo?
