About Me
I am a retired RN so now can do all of my hobbies whenever I want, my favorite being quilting. I used to have just one project going before I started another; now I have about 10 projects started with some in the end stages. I am working on my fabric "stash" which is very small compared to others I've seen. I also like creating stained glass projects, scrapbooking, and gardening. I am a grandmother of 7 and greatgrandmother of 2 and 1 on the way; they are my life! I'm excited to find a site where I can share with other quilters.

Another UFO

Posted on May 18, 2013 at 12:16pm 12 Comments

Here is another UFO completed.  Our group, "Scrappies", started this challenge, a mystery quilt, the summer of 2011.  As you can see, I'm a little slow; as usual I completed the top and there it sat until now.  I love the bright colors.…

Fire!!!

Posted on May 15, 2013 at 8:09pm 7 Comments

Hard to believe that a month ago I posted pics of 20 inches of snow in one day in our area.  Today I could post pics of a wild fire if I had some.  About 4-5 miles as the crow flies from our home a wild fire started yesterday burning 9000 acres in 2 counties.  50 people evacuated; 50 structures burned 17 of which were homes.  About 20 local fire departments and DNR worked and 2 Blackhawk helicopters from National Guard and 2 Canadian planes dumped water.  Thankfully, no injuries occurred.  I…

Project completed

Finished a project---a bag to collect threads and little scraps while sewing and a pincushion to hold it onto the edge of the sewing table.  I used scraps.  I think I'll make one for gift exchange at Christmas party next Dec.…

Spring has arrived

Posted on April 28, 2013 at 7:56pm 8 Comments

It's June again in NW Wisconsin.  Spring has arrived; if you saw our yard today, you wouldn't believe it's the same home I posted snowy photos of a week ago.  All that snow is rapidly disappearing.  Ice on lakes is beginning to melt or at least thin out.  Daffodil spears are about 4 inches high.  Robins have arrived.  Yesterday was about 70 and today mid 60s. Yesterday we had our first spring cookout; potato salad and hot dogs.  God is good!

Signs of spring?

Posted on April 22, 2013 at 8:25pm 8 Comments

My DH and I went for a ride today to shake off the doldrums of this continuing winter weather.  On the way home we saw a skunk cross the highway in front of us; luckily we didn't hit it.  Is he a sign of spring?

The photos I'm posting sure are not a sign of spring.  These are the results of the 20 inch snowfall we had last Thursday/Friday.  It is snowing again as I blog; we may get another 10 inches.

This is our front doorstep.…

When I saw your message on the fire I thought you must be nearby.  My daughter lives in Maple, we go to Lake Nebagaman often.  Are you in a quilt guild or group?  We just started one in Ashland a few years ago.  There is a member from Lake N - Barb Yox.

June:  Thanks for asking....I have had a rough time of this radiation stuff.   I think Sunday I may have turned a corner to the feeling better side.  My meds are kicking in and I am off the sofa and back to my own bed.  It's not that radiation is hard... it's the location they are zapping and all the organs they are hitting and how those organs are reacting.  So nice of you to ask...you are so thoughtful. Thank you.

Thanks for the advice, June.  I will have to get some fusible batting to try for my next quilt.  Do you use a large table to iron on? I know I could have done better if I had taken my time pinning this one, but I was so anxious to start quilting it.  Several others suggested going to a church and pushing table together, then taping like I used to do on the floor.  None of my quilts are prize winning but I still want to do a good job.

Thanks again.  Happy Spring, It is finally here is southwest Minnesota!

hello! Stopping by to let you know that I made a decision on purchasing a machine! (you stopped by my blog and left your recommendation).  I am getting the Husqvarna Sapphire 875...just like you! :)  It is a great machine and I am certain to have lots of happy memories with it.  Just wanted to thank you for suggesting it as I hadn't considered it until you mentioned.  What a great machine! Thanks!!

Thank you so much June, i have missed being on here. I am doing a major cleanout of my sewing room, I did not realize just how many pattern, magazines and books I had accumulated over the years. I have culled my shelves and now have boxes to give away, just where is the question. I will take some to the guild, some to the thrift stores in the area. I am sure that there are women out there who would love the magazines but cant afford to pay full price for them. Also other crafts I had done in the past will get the boot, so I can concentrate on my sewing and scrapbooking.

June the story of Endo the lost (and found) dog brought tears to my eyes. I have heard of dogs traveling several miles over rugged terrain and through rivers to find their home.  What a wonderful outcome.  I hope they find someone soon heading in that direction to take him back to his owners.  Great story, thanks for sharing it.

June you are so right, after we give our children their wings our dogs become our children. We dote on them and they give us back the love we are missing.  Thank the Lord I have never had to lose one of my children.  The pain of losing my precious Mr Man has been so painful I wouldn't even want to think how hard that would be.  Thank you for your kind words and for thinking of me.  May God Pour out His Blessings on You and your family!!!
