About Me
Quilting has been my passion for the past 20 years. And I never have enough time to do all I want to do. Thus, I have lots of UFOs. The kinds of quilts I like varies with my mood, but I do have to say, traditional, and primitive strike a cord, with me. I have just begun to design some quilts, as well. I have worked in the medical field for almost 30 years, and recently became certified as a holistic health coach. My special area of focus is working with Quilters, since my two passions are Health and Quilting. I also am a Reiki master and work with people and their pets. I can do both the health coaching and Reiki work in person or long distance. My blog for quilters is www.karenstenback.wordpress.com

Beaded Flowers on Quilts

Posted on June 6, 2012 at 8:30pm 6 Comments

Hi there.

I recently took a workshop by Marguerette Tate on beaded flower quilts.  I have put pics from the workshop on my personal blog, www.karenstenback.wordpress.com.  Here is a close-up of several of her flowers from one of her quilts.  They are even more stunning in person!     …

My quilt guild's show was this past weekend.  I have posted pics of some of the winning quilts on my personal blog, www.karenstenback.wordpress.com , in addition to a pic of the winner of the dog quilt I made as a fundraiser for Halfway to Home dog rescue.

Here is one of the winning quilts from our show, by Barbara G. Goddard, who won ribbons for three of her quilts!  …

Opportunity Quilts

Posted on April 10, 2012 at 7:22pm 9 Comments

I took my opportunity fundraiser quilt, "Charlie's Quilt", to the Glendale Quilt Show, last month, and because attendance was slow due to rainy weather, I had a chance to talk with other quilters who had brought opportunity quilts.  I have posted pics of the opportunity quilts they brought on my regular blog, and they are all beautiful...but I have to admit this one from the Big Bear Quilt Guild is my favorite!  You can see them on my blog at…

Birthday Quilts

Posted on April 3, 2012 at 7:51pm 3 Comments

Last month my guild had Lyn Mann come to speak and give a workshop on Birthday Quilts, where you use your own birth month and day to create a quilt that is especially for your birthday.  The workshop was lots of fun.  I have posted pics on my personal blog, www.karenstenback.wordpress.com  .  Here is Lyn's quilt sample she made for us.  This is a good quilt to give as a 'personalized' gift using a person's 'special…

Have you seen this quilt?

Posted on March 20, 2012 at 12:45am 1 Comment

A friend of mine is looking for this quilt pattern or quilt kit.  It was produced around the 1930s, she thinks.  Her mother made this quilt for her, and when their house burned down in a fire, the quilt also burned.  My friend would like to find the pattern or kit so she could make another one.  It is a fairy tale quilt, and includes Rapunzel, and several other princesses.   I searched for this quilt online, and found one quilt made from this pattern, and it is in a museum in Michigan.  This…

I have two links to patterns for the strawberry pinkeeps - you can probably use the basic design and adapt it to how you want yours' to look - I think I have another pattern for one somewhere - I will keep looking.  Here are links to two patterns with picture directions:

Just reading your note...a few negative remarks would not stop me from what I felt the Lord wanted me to do....I think what you do is in good taste...and the people who do not like it can just move on to the next post as I do when something does not interest me..blessings in your new adventure....will be exciting what you write...I will continue to look for it....have a wonderful day...

Thank you for your very kind words. I'm glad you like my blogsite. It has been fun. I don't post every day, but quite often. I've never been one to journal, so this has been really good for me.  I was pleased with my quilt photo at the top too. I have several different photos I post there as I feel a desire for a change, whether from a seasonal change or just because. This one may stay up longer than most as I am very pleased with it.

I love to quilt and sometimes put things together to suit my self. That's the fun part. Kind of like when my girls were going up and they would look st prom dresses and say mom I like this top but those sleeves and that skirt. What fun we had. Then the beautiful and fabric. Those were the most fun of all because they were to special to them. Then the wedding dresses . I do miss that but have done some for granddaughter through the years, but now it is picking a quilt for this one and that one.
