About Me
I am a born-again quilter. I started quilting in High School, and quilted from 1975 - 1990 until my two daughters lives got busy and my quilting time ended. I am a small business owner who works way too much so until two years ago I still did not find the time to do much more then work and build my business. The event that got me back into quilting was the death of my Mom who passed way way too fast from cancer. SHE was the quilter in our family and she was waiting to retire to REALLY have time to quilt. She passed away 6 months before her retirement and her words to me was NOT TO WAIT to do something you love - you may miss your chance. She blessed me with the stash and everything I needed for a life time and all the motivation to get back what I love to do. I miss her every momnet of the day but know she speaks to me through the fabric and projects I am learning and enjoying. I joined the Quilt Guild in my town and am know surrounded by new "Mom's" who are teaching me so many new things. I am blessed to be a born-again Quilter.

Almost fourth of July!

Happy Fourth of July - quilters! Aren't we blessed to live in a counrty that allows us to do so many things freely - even quilting! I know I am blessed everyday - being able to gather with so many great friends in my guild (freedom to assemble) the ability to LEARN and BUY what ever we need to be successful and enjoy my obsession. HURRAY America!

I am planning our Round Robin Retreat for the 7th of July in a wonderful Cabin/house in "Plain Washington" and after our wild little group spen… Continue

WOW - I had no idea how cool this site was until I came home today from working in EL PASO Texas (no quilt shops...darn) and found so many new friends had stopped at my site. I am having so much fun seeing other peoples work and their pictures. "Don't you just love the power and psossibilities of the internet. Memorial Day weekend is here and I am hoping for an extended QUILTING session without much interruption. I travel many, many weeks of the year which is good and bad. GOOD because I get to… Continue

I am excited to find "quilt with us"!

I have been recieving Counting Threads for a couple of years and just now went to the website and found "quilt with us" section. LOVE IT!!! I plan to tell all my quilt friends about it so we can keep up with each others projects. I will use it to send my family and friends to also - they will be able to keep up with what I am doing with my obsession.

Hi Kate,
I've added your show to our events calendar. Please note our events software requires start and end times. Since I didn't have any, I entered 1am to 1am so it's obvious that it's wrong. Let me know if you'd like me to add hours.

Thanks!
Karen

Thanks for getting back so quickly about the pink & red scrappy quilt pattern! Now I am going to look through my stack of quilt books to see if I have that book! If I just made ONE quilt from every pattern book I owned...I would be able to put a quilt on every bed in a Holiday Inn motel!!!!!! LOL I have to admit that quilt pattern books inspire me! I love looking through them and figuring out my next project(s). I compare a quilt pattern book in my hand to a toy catalog in a child's hand at Christmas time. We're both excited about what we see on the pages and have lots of 'wishes'! *grin*
Hope you are enjoying this special weekend! May your Fourth be filled with parades, picnics, and fireworks! ;^)

Hi Kate - Just looked through your pictures again and saw some new ones. Love the Mariner's Compass that you are doing, and then there's the landscape quilt you did and and.....
How fun that you are actually in E.W. My folks were on 8th St. NE, across from the Catholic Church parking lot. Their backyard opens onto the play field at Kenroy.
I'm not in a guild here in Yakima. I don't have time to do any of those things. I find time to quilt between care duties with my folks. We have about 2 hours off a week, so no time for things like quilt guilds, etc. That's where this site is so good for me as I can be with many quilter friends right here at home.
Hope you have a great 4th. Just finished the apple pie, potato salad, chicken & cabbage salad..... Now I can rest and not cook for a while. LOL

Kate- I love your pink and red scrappy quilt! It has such 'movement' in the block placement! May I ask what pattern is it?
Happy quilting!
