About Me
I am married to great guy and we will be celebrating 23 years together this year. I have 1 daughter and 1 son. We have 3 grandchildren, a grandson and a granddaughter who live in Montana and I don't see nearly enough and I care for my youngest grandson while my daughter works full time (he's now 10 mos old). I work part time and also do the bookwork for my husband's livestock hauling business. When the weather is agreeable I do try and find time to ride my horse. My quilting time gets squeezed in here and there. I forgot how much work a new baby is...wow! No wonder we don't have kids after 50...but he is a keeper!

Hi Katherine:
Welcome to the Quilt Frame. I have been enjoying your quilt show. I love the Thimbleberries sampler - what book was that in? Of course I also loved the log cabins as I live in one and that's my favorite pattern. And by the way, I have a cat that looks like your "mud puddle" dog, often. If there's a puddle she will find it, wallow around in it and then expect to be welcomed inside. Very unusual for a cat - we call her pigpen.
I hope you enjoy this group of hand quilters. We have a good time discussing most anything, including quilting. Great to have you with us. Joyce

Thanks Katherine. The jungle quilt is from a book called "Quilts, Bibs and Blankies....Oh My!" I am not a good or experienced quilter (and the pic is of the top, haven't quilted it yet!) but it was a very FUN quilt to plan and make. I can't remember the author's name and my book is currently in "a very safe place" with a lot of other things that I cannot find. BTW, I just added pics of my new granddaughter!

Katherine, I'm sorry, but I had to LOL at your skunk story. Three different times when that happened to us I LET THE DOGS IN THE HOUSE before I realized that they had been sprayed! Each time they immediately found something soft & absorbent to roll on and wipe that nasty smell off onto; like the carpet or sofa. The last time a young skunk was holed up in a pile of empty pallets inside of our fenced area, so the skunk had to go. My brave husband would remove a pallet and run, remove a pallet and run, until he got down to the last two. Then he chained the top one to the Jeep bumper and slowly pulled it off. Meanwhile, I am observing - from the upper deck - and yelling "Careful, careful! Don't hurt him!". Finally, the skunk reluctantly left. Once my kids came home from high school complaining that their clothes, and even lockers smelled like skunk, that was after a cleansing rug roll by the dogs. Love your quilts and Reba. I wish that I could see a pic of your Aussie. Two of ours are Aussie mixes. Never a dull moment, huh?

Thanks about my bear quilt. My GS still loves it. It is like the Velveteen Rabbit now. Very much loved "blankie" He is 5 now and blankie waits for him at home.

My sick grandson, but better now

I have been reading back blogs since way early this morning just trying to get caught up on the goings on and, projects and prayers. Sounds like everyone is very busy. I just love all the pictures.
Last week we had to put my (10 mos old today) grandson in the hospital. He has asthma or at least that is what they have been treating him for since right after he was born. A week ago this past Sunday we had a dust storm that actually shut the freeway down from our little town to Ritzville about 40 m… Continue

New Project

Well since I completed 2 UFO's and made a baby quilt last month, I decided to begin a new quilt. I completed the 1st block today and almost finished the 2nd. I am using the Southern Stars pattern using CT's Hearth and Home fabric line. In between completing the blocks for this quilt I would like to get some blocks (that have been completed for the past 2 yrs) set into a top and work on getting it quilted. Sooo many projects and sooo little time. I know you all know the feeling...lol. Happy Sewin… Continue

What a Weekend

Well my weekend was anything but "lazy". The dog got skunked AGAIN (4th time this summer) at 8:30 Saturday evening. Ohhhh did she stink, she got sprayed right in the snout so she was even foaming at the mouth. Well of course she couldn't come in so I sat outside with her more than half the night as she cried to come in all night. So first thing Sunday morning I found the Tomato Juice and I have a product called "Miracle Air" and believe me it is a miracle. I bathed her (and me not on purpose ) w… Continue

Thanks for the Inspiration!

Since joining this group a couple of months ago I have completed three quilt tops, one is out being quilted now and I think I am going to attempt to quilt one myself and not sure on the third. I am also in the middle of making 4 baby quilts, it's raining babies over here in WA state. Seems all my friends are are getting new grand-babies. I'll get some pictures posted soon.
Your enthusiasm for your craft has sure helped me get over a dry spell of no quilting. I just love to hear about your latest… Continue
