Big stitch - first attempt

Posted on August 6, 2015 at 10:34am 13 Comments

Well here it is. This is my second block. The first one was just straight lines and the stitches were hard to see in the photo.  The stitches in the center of this one don't show up very well either but you can certainly see the brown area.  I used a chalk pencil to make my arcs.  Couldn't get that rocking motion going so it's pretty much stab stitching in some areas. I'm blaming the Warm n Natural batting as someone here said it would make things difficult. Not sure if my stitches are…

hand quilting question

Posted on June 14, 2015 at 2:47pm 17 Comments

Hi Everyone,

I posted a question on another forum but I'm afraid it's getting lost in other conversations. You know, getting pushed along to another page. So I thought I'd post it here too for more input. Here it is, copy/pasted:

Hey ladies, guess what I've been doing since yesterday? Finally, I'm quilting a top I pieced a long time ago. Actually the piecing was started in 2012. This is the one I learned piecing on (bad English, I know). Just…

embroidery

Posted on April 22, 2015 at 10:17am 9 Comments

Everyone was so nice with my request for advice here. So I thought I'd share what I just finished with an embroidery project. I haven't embroidered in years. This is a gift for my best girlfriend; she gave me the dish as a Christmas gift one year and it inspired my idea to do some embroidery. I'm quite happy with it. I padded the embroidery with a bit of batting, so I couldn't fit the glass back in the frame, but it still looks nice.…

looking for advice

Posted on April 21, 2015 at 12:27pm 10 Comments

So I need some advice. I made a quilt back, but I like it too much to be a backing for that particular quilt! I want it to be a front. So I have it laid out (a little sloppily, sorry) with a piece of fabric I'm thinking of using as a backing.  I know backings don't necessarily have to match the front, but do you think this looks good at all? It's CT fabric, called Soaked.  The patchwork is done in CT's Urban Odyssey, which goes back to 2012 at least. I hope this is a good enough picture to…

Following is a comment I posted on FB. I was fishing to see if anyone might be interested in a quilt retreat or something. Several definites and several it depends so far.  Just want you to know you're included. I don't want to discuss it on Gifty because MSQC and CT are competitors and it doesn't seem right. You could email me at marclarke@aol.com if you want to talk about it.

Okay, I'm going to raise an issue we've mentioned over the years. And that is getting together for a quilt retreat. Or just getting together for the sake of getting together. Anyone interested? I'm thinking sometime next year--spring or summer? Someplace easy for most of us to get to, or someplace someone can't get away from? At one time several people mentioned Hamilton, MO. Since FB and CT aren't connected we could talk about it here with no disloyalty to QWU.

So, if anyone is interested please leave a comment and we can talk further. There must be a way to set up a secondary news feed.

Hi Kathleen. Thanks for adding me as a friend.

Thanks for adding me as a friend. I have been finishing up quilts lately that have been in the works for several years.  I guess I like the starting and planning better than the finishing.  By the end of August I plan to have 5 quilting projects done.  I am supposed to get my Lasting Legacy back this coming week.  Then will only have to do the binding.  I am NOT going to start any more quilts until these are ALL done.  Not to say I won't do the things in Gifty group.  But those should finish up quickly.

OMG Kathleen, the perfect points sampler is wonderful!  Keep up the good work!  Also, how neat to put so many people in your pictures.
