I've been quilting 15 years now, before I made clothes. I have two grandchildren, Molly age 12 and Liam age 2. Currently I am making kits from Connecting Threads that I purchased years ago and plan on finishing up some UFO's this year (2013). I have been making so many large projects it's fun to do small things for a change of pace.

Kathryn - thank you! How sweet. My 3 sibs and their spouses were here yesterday for an early Thanksgiving dinner. It was really enjoyable. Now I'm getting ready for two of our sons to come tomorrow night for dinner on Thursday. Thankfully there is enough turkey that I don't have to cook another one already (I do have another one ... just in case).
We are enjoying it here. The weather is getting COLD and it appears there is little to no insulation in the walls of this house. DH is concerned about having enough firewood to get us through winter. Hopefully we have enough, or will be able to get more soon to add to our pile. Lots of bundling up! LOL
I hope to have more time soon to get more sewing/quilting done. It will be fun to do some of that type of "work" again.
I hope you can get a new hip soon, you'll feel so much better I'm sure.
The job we now have is a "volunteer" job, which gives us a house to live in as "pay". That is a blessing. DH is starting to get his SS money and that will cover our other monthly expenses. A 'regular' job just did not pan out, as this is what God is desiring us to do. There will be work here for both of us, but I think it will be manageable, and fun.
Hi, Kathryn. Thanks for your comment on my Alaska trip post. Yes, we were told that winter lasted a bit longer than usual this year for you; the B&B owner said they had 6 inches of snow in mid May, and it had just melted off. DS told us that after we left Anchorage, it was 85 degrees at his house in Chugiak! A record! (Glad we missed that.)
Loved Eagle River (DS's second job is there at The Brown Jug - well, when you are young and starting out, you take what you can get). You have some nice restaurants and I think we tried each of them at least once.
Yes, I was told the quilt was designed by the owner of The Quilt Zone. I was lucky to get a pattern and am looking forward to gathering my fabrics.
Yes, we missed the snow you sent my way. There is no sun today so it will be cold. Our outdoor wood stove is still fired up and the chains and plow remain on the truck. Just in case. Montana is full of surprises. I'm finishing my boutique items that need turned in tomorrow for the guild's quilt show at the end of the month. I'm getting calls from quilters who want to put their quilts in our show since the August show is not happening. But you have to be a member of the guild to do that. Oh well, maybe someone will step up and take over next year. It is getting a little late for this year as the marketing should already be in place.
Keep stitching. You do such nice work............judy
Hello! We had a mild winter also. Kind of nice but we need moisture or otherwise it is going to be a scary fire season. I have spent very little time on this site....shame on me. been busy trying to make sales on my store ad saving my pennies for a trip home to family. At the end of April is our quilt show at Rendezvous put on by my guild. Small event but a lot of work for me as pres. Noone wants to volunteer. What else is new?? Our August quilt show is not going to happen. It was the biggest sales event for the community. We are all disappointed but noone wants to take it on. Even though I've been asked, I can't take on anything more.
Sorry about your mom. 100+ is a good age these days. Sorry for your loss.
Other then that we all all well here. Reina had part of her tail removed result of tumor. Getting much better now. Bernie has his gotcha day today. He joined us 4 years ago and what a dude he is.
Send me some spring if you can. I'm looking forward to some spring flowers.
I enjoyed your pictures. Nice, very nice work!!!!!
Thanks so much for the comment. Yes I had a nice b-day and surgery was Thrusday. I got discharged yesterday, late afternoon with a port-a-potty and a walker. They took some bone off so I have to use the walker for 4 weeks. Yuk!! Otherwise as long as I take my pain meds...Im doing fairly well. Sorry to hear about your surgery....you will have to make sure you rest afterwards too. Sometimes those little cuts on your tummy can be a killer especially when you sneeze or cough. Take care and thanks again. Just spent some time looking at your photos...You do amazing work and I love your fabric choices. Your blue and yellow spikey one is beautiful.
Sorry to hear about your mother but my goodness she was over 100. Amazing. Our winter has been mild compared to the rest of the country. Mostly freezing temps and little snow. Right now we have a lot of ice to deal with. I've been sooooo busy sewing. Loving my retirement and time to sew.
Spring is not too far away. I look forward to warming up a bit and some spring flowers.
Glad to hear that you are busy with some of your kits. Nice to get things done. It's not too far away before we start thinking about Christmas gifts!!!!!!
