Happy Thanksgiving to one and all

Posted on November 24, 2016 at 6:06am 3 Comments

Just dropped in to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.  I believe I shocked everyone at work by telling them that I wasn't going to work today.  It is my normal day off and I didn't feel the need to go in today just because....  Although, I think I should have.  I was looking forward to a peaceful holiday and now I have a whole bunch of people coming over.  Cookies are made.  Pies were finished last night and in a little bit Tom Turkey will be prepped and put in the oven.  Enjoy the family…

140 days later....

Moms house is done, well it was done back in August, finally, and up for sale.  It was actually sold twice but the deals didn't go threw.  Such is life.  It is once again sold even though we still have a few things to do according to the inspection report we just got but they will be manageable, I hope.  So now that I have a little breathing room I started taking a long look at my house.  I guess I ended up with a few more things of moms than I realized.  I've had this box sitting on the…

In our last episode I reported that I had gotten sunflower seeds from grandson.  I now have a play date (Thursday) with Aiden and Lucas.  DD called yesterday and put Aiden on the phone.  I had just gotten off work and wanted to go home and put the feet up for a bit.  Dear little guy wanted grandma to come over and play.  I made a date with him for Thursday.

I now have time for this sense my  moms house is now finished and up for sale.  Personal cost for this endeavor, endless stress…

Special present for grandma

Meet up with DD and the grand kids this morning after work

Aiden had a special gift for me, with a little help from mom.  I saw this and his explanation was so cute.

"Dig a hole plant the seeds and water, water, water."  The instructions on the back of the package were plain as day.  I understood them perfectly!

Made me smile, hope your day is just as beautiful.…

Kathy, sorry my recent post wasn't clear.  The Lone Star tutorial is one of Kaye Wood's and is rather long.  However, if you bear with her through the beginning, she does explain the piecing process and how she matches the seams.

Always a challenge doing something new but so rewarding!

Kathy,  I saw your comment on the  Essential Pro Polyester thread and have a question.  How do you think it would work on a serger?  The price is definitely right.  It cost me an arm and a leg to buy thread for that darn machine when doing special projects.  With Luke here I see myself segering more and more and would love to find a good inexpensive thread.

Hi Kathy

We're about 15 miles west of Naches, as you head up towards Chinook Pass.  It would be a lovely spot for a quilt retreat, but the lodges are not geared for that. My quilt room, on the other hand, would do pretty nicely.

Hi Kathy...I looked up the new sewing machine that you bought and it looks like a nice one. I found a Brothers PC-210 PRW, a limited edition, that is exactly like my Crafter's Choice Baby Lock and it was a lot cheaper now that when I bought mine. I really love it. I wanted more space in the throat to quilt and saw a Husqvarna 140C that has a 10" throat. My DH was so nice and bought it for my birthday, which is coming up in about 3 weeks. What a guy. Have fun with your new machine.

I would more then willing help you finish your quilts. I use flannel on many of my quilts, almost all baby quilts. It only cost $16.00 with insurance one way. I like using warm and natural. I charge about $10 a hour. If you are interested and since you know about how long it takes, send me a note to what you think the price would be if you are interested.

Kathy, you have a heart of gold. I don't know if I could be as generous as you are being for your family, can't image not having my space for quilting. Sure hope I don't have to make that choice although my only son has his mommy wrapped around his finger so I would probably give in too. Hope you can find a way to squeeze in your machine somewhere, you do wonderful work.

Kathy,,, I feel for you,,, as I am more or less in the same boat.  Think we can take our LA in the boat with us???  Our DD moved back home last week with her 2 boys, 13 & 2 1/2.  The boys will be sleeping in my sewing room.  Dismantling it after 20+ years is not my idea of fun or where I want to go!!!  LA is in the Florida room now covered with fabrics, projects and don't forget 2 of my 3 FW's.   Totes have been purchased, still don't know where they are going.   Still have to remove a dresser and my cutting table.   I hope I can find a place to work on piecing and my LA soon.

Just read your blog "Sigh" about the dogs and other adventures and how does anybody quilt.  Had a good laugh, sounds about right.  Our dog can't hear so when he decides to start barking, well, sheesh!  He's eleven years old and we've had him since he was a couple weeks old.  Hard to be angry when I get that soulful look  with all the grey hairs for eyebrows.  Gonna have to try that dart thing,LOL.

BTW, you make some amazing stuff!
