I finally finished the last quilt that I posted a picture of. Although the top is done I won’t be able to quilt it until I can get the baking and battling pinned together which I did try to do but in an RV with very little room it didn’t come together very well. So it’s bagged up and I’ll be putting it in storage until I can get it done. In the mean while I’ve been trying to make up my mind on which quilt to make next I have the picture below of 6 different quilt designs that I like…

So I've been trying to decide if I want to hand quilt one of the tops I posted previously. It was the broken arrow quilt. I also posted pictures of the calligraphy designs I wanted to use. I recently traced the calligraphy designs on some muslin fabric and stitched it out. Looked pretty good. The problem now is how to transfer the designs to the quilt. I know it wouldn't be much of a problem for me except for the fact that I already have the quilt sandwiched and ready to quilt. It was…

Yes it was driving me crazy trying to make these blocks. I haven’t done curved piecing in quite a while and the straight cut blocks weren’t exactly symmetrical either. But the top is almost finished. I just need to work on the border pieces and it will be done. Oh and this one is mine. Not going to give this one away. Lol Sorry I don’t know why it keeps trying to post picture sideways…

Kathy, sorry my recent post wasn't clear. The Lone Star tutorial is one of Kaye Wood's and is rather long. However, if you bear with her through the beginning, she does explain the piecing process and how she matches the seams.
Always a challenge doing something new but so rewarding!
Hi Kathy! I hope the surgery went well and you are feeling ok. :)
Kathy, I saw your comment on the Essential Pro Polyester thread and have a question. How do you think it would work on a serger? The price is definitely right. It cost me an arm and a leg to buy thread for that darn machine when doing special projects. With Luke here I see myself segering more and more and would love to find a good inexpensive thread.
Hi Kathy
We're about 15 miles west of Naches, as you head up towards Chinook Pass. It would be a lovely spot for a quilt retreat, but the lodges are not geared for that. My quilt room, on the other hand, would do pretty nicely.
Hi Kathy...I looked up the new sewing machine that you bought and it looks like a nice one. I found a Brothers PC-210 PRW, a limited edition, that is exactly like my Crafter's Choice Baby Lock and it was a lot cheaper now that when I bought mine. I really love it. I wanted more space in the throat to quilt and saw a Husqvarna 140C that has a 10" throat. My DH was so nice and bought it for my birthday, which is coming up in about 3 weeks. What a guy. Have fun with your new machine.
1.suggest the lay away idea. 2. make the squatters get a job.3. charge a good price for your WONDERFUL quilts....do you have an ETSY site? something to consider :o)
You have a grandbaby on the way....focus on that....and your beautiful dd.
I would more then willing help you finish your quilts. I use flannel on many of my quilts, almost all baby quilts. It only cost $16.00 with insurance one way. I like using warm and natural. I charge about $10 a hour. If you are interested and since you know about how long it takes, send me a note to what you think the price would be if you are interested.
Kathy, you have a heart of gold. I don't know if I could be as generous as you are being for your family, can't image not having my space for quilting. Sure hope I don't have to make that choice although my only son has his mommy wrapped around his finger so I would probably give in too. Hope you can find a way to squeeze in your machine somewhere, you do wonderful work.
Kathy,,, I feel for you,,, as I am more or less in the same boat. Think we can take our LA in the boat with us??? Our DD moved back home last week with her 2 boys, 13 & 2 1/2. The boys will be sleeping in my sewing room. Dismantling it after 20+ years is not my idea of fun or where I want to go!!! LA is in the Florida room now covered with fabrics, projects and don't forget 2 of my 3 FW's. Totes have been purchased, still don't know where they are going. Still have to remove a dresser and my cutting table. I hope I can find a place to work on piecing and my LA soon.
Just read your blog "Sigh" about the dogs and other adventures and how does anybody quilt. Had a good laugh, sounds about right. Our dog can't hear so when he decides to start barking, well, sheesh! He's eleven years old and we've had him since he was a couple weeks old. Hard to be angry when I get that soulful look with all the grey hairs for eyebrows. Gonna have to try that dart thing,LOL.
BTW, you make some amazing stuff!
