It's me, it just has to be me.  It never fails that when I want to make something I can't.  Still trying to get the house finished up and sold.  I have a few ideas that I really want to work on but no where to work at.  Our house is basically empty so that we can paint and fix the things we discovered were not up to code.  Maybe I should stop thinking about all the things that I want to do while I'm painting or cleaning.  I finally sold my Tin Lizzie long arm machine, and bought the Handi…

Just when I thought I had a grip on life....

Seems like my life is always throwing me curves.  I finally got my broken arrow quilt top finished with the extra borders. Sorry I don't have a picture of it as it is now packed and going into storage.  Almost a year ago My other half injured his back at work.  He would work, couldn't work for a few months and L and I of course paid wouldn't pay for his time off.  He's been off work now sense April and we are going through the getting paid not getting paid by L and I.  So this has forced us…

I am starting to think I lost my mind

Ok so there are a few things going on with my quilt.  I bought my longarm because of my bad shoulder.  Well after finishing the quilt (posting a better picture below) I realized it would look better quilted by hand. Problem #2 I discovered my quilt frame that my mom and dad made for me years ago was left outside.  Sanding and refinishing them.  While working on the frames I discovered that my mom had stamped her initials and the year she made the frame for me.  That hit me kind of hard.  So…

The quilt I will never make again ever!

Posted on March 30, 2018 at 8:19pm 5 Comments

Some of you may know this quilt as a broken star. I am renaming it the quilt I will never ever, ever, ever make again ever. Almost got the borders finished. 2 more strips of white to sew to the top and bottom then another round of the brown border and call it done. Ok so that makes the top and it still has to be quilted. Any volunteers??????…

Hello to all.  I haven't been here in months, June to be exact.  Just been busy working and playing with my grandkids.  Those of you who have read my posts may remember that my mom passed away last year and I was busy getting her house fixed and sold.  Sense then I really haven't been motivated to do anything.

A couple months ago I got the idea to make a quilt for Aiden the older of the two grand sons.  I knew what I wanted to make and decided to check out the local sew and vac for…

Kathy, sorry my recent post wasn't clear.  The Lone Star tutorial is one of Kaye Wood's and is rather long.  However, if you bear with her through the beginning, she does explain the piecing process and how she matches the seams.

Always a challenge doing something new but so rewarding!

Kathy,  I saw your comment on the  Essential Pro Polyester thread and have a question.  How do you think it would work on a serger?  The price is definitely right.  It cost me an arm and a leg to buy thread for that darn machine when doing special projects.  With Luke here I see myself segering more and more and would love to find a good inexpensive thread.

Hi Kathy

We're about 15 miles west of Naches, as you head up towards Chinook Pass.  It would be a lovely spot for a quilt retreat, but the lodges are not geared for that. My quilt room, on the other hand, would do pretty nicely.

Hi Kathy...I looked up the new sewing machine that you bought and it looks like a nice one. I found a Brothers PC-210 PRW, a limited edition, that is exactly like my Crafter's Choice Baby Lock and it was a lot cheaper now that when I bought mine. I really love it. I wanted more space in the throat to quilt and saw a Husqvarna 140C that has a 10" throat. My DH was so nice and bought it for my birthday, which is coming up in about 3 weeks. What a guy. Have fun with your new machine.

I would more then willing help you finish your quilts. I use flannel on many of my quilts, almost all baby quilts. It only cost $16.00 with insurance one way. I like using warm and natural. I charge about $10 a hour. If you are interested and since you know about how long it takes, send me a note to what you think the price would be if you are interested.

Kathy, you have a heart of gold. I don't know if I could be as generous as you are being for your family, can't image not having my space for quilting. Sure hope I don't have to make that choice although my only son has his mommy wrapped around his finger so I would probably give in too. Hope you can find a way to squeeze in your machine somewhere, you do wonderful work.

Kathy,,, I feel for you,,, as I am more or less in the same boat.  Think we can take our LA in the boat with us???  Our DD moved back home last week with her 2 boys, 13 & 2 1/2.  The boys will be sleeping in my sewing room.  Dismantling it after 20+ years is not my idea of fun or where I want to go!!!  LA is in the Florida room now covered with fabrics, projects and don't forget 2 of my 3 FW's.   Totes have been purchased, still don't know where they are going.   Still have to remove a dresser and my cutting table.   I hope I can find a place to work on piecing and my LA soon.

Just read your blog "Sigh" about the dogs and other adventures and how does anybody quilt.  Had a good laugh, sounds about right.  Our dog can't hear so when he decides to start barking, well, sheesh!  He's eleven years old and we've had him since he was a couple weeks old.  Hard to be angry when I get that soulful look  with all the grey hairs for eyebrows.  Gonna have to try that dart thing,LOL.

BTW, you make some amazing stuff!
