Yes, the King quilt for our bed made from the CT Birtchtree Lane collection is at last pieced and ready to quilt! It has taken way longer to get to this point than originally anticipated; but IMHO the results are worth it. To be fair, I was away from home more than at home last year with taking care of our daughter and her boys after her knee surgeries and then visiting a new granddaughter. Then of course there were all the "other" projects that needed my undivided attention, then came the…

Just wondering if any of you have attempted a kaleidoscope quilt? And if so, what were your results. Yes, I am considering making one...am I totally nuts? Probably.....lol
I am thinking about (nothing definate ..... yet) trying this with the Birchtree fabric for my king sized bed. I was thinking a very large center piece, a small border, then smaller kaleidoscope squares pieced for one wide border, then another small border followed by a wide border of main color fabric. Anyway,…

Kathy, I've put the following in my cart for the Bonnie Hunter mystery. I'm making the small quilt. I've got then in FQs-- 10 yellows, 11 oranges, 9 greens, 13 blues, and I've selected 1 for the background. Still debating if I should make my background scrappy too? What do you think. I'm ordering it all from Connecting Threads. Sadly the sale will be gone after today and I need to order after payday on Friday.
I went to Linda's (Inklingo) page, and saw she selected 5 fabrics and already has a pieced quilt. Is this what Bonnie's quilt will look like?? She's got a sort of stack and whack kind of repetitive middle.
I'm thinking of doing the small quilt, since I don't want to deal with so much fabrics. I'm already overwhelmed.
Hi Kathy! I haven't picked any fabrics for this Bonnie K Hunter mystery quilt yet. I went to Connecting Thread and did a fabric selection based on color, and put every FQ that remotely looked close to the paint card. Then I chose only 1 background. Then I wondered if it would be better to just buy 1 fabric by yardage per color. Don't know if I'll get confused with so many fabrics to chose from. I'll shop for fabrics after the last day of the month (payday for me). I'll see what others have done with their mystery clue.
I do have the FQs for the Craftsy 2012 and 2013 BOM, as I've not even done those, so I've still got all the fabrics.
Oh, I tried downloading the free Inklingo patterns to try it out, are they always such huge files? I cancelled the download after passing 15+ MB. Figured that was just way too huge a file.
I love your color combination inspirations, especially when you incorporate the very bold contrasts.
Kathy you are so right it was very hard to let go of my sweet Mr. The words of comfort from the ladies on QWU have helped knowing that people care. Thank you so much for your kind words. God Bless You!
Hello Kathy!
I have been evesdropping on the "Gifty Galore" and "Barn Quilt" blogs. You girls are having SO much fun!
You mentioned that you would like to make a blue and silver winter quilt or wall hanging, so I did some looking. Those are colors I would love in my home too! If you want to go to ...quiltwoman.com...there are oodles of patterns there. I found 2 that look like they would work up beautifully in the blues and silvers. One is called "The Woods on a Snow Eve" and the other is "Winter Beauties". Check them out!
I am seriously thinking of joining the Gifty group of crafty ladies. Several are already on my friends list. The problem is that I already spend way too much time here at the computer visiting and learning from the gals, and not enough time on my sewing, quilting, and those other mudane things like housework...ugh!
Happy stitching! Oh, and I love how your barn quilt turned out!
Thank you, Kathy--i'm glad you liked the Tetris quilt.
Kathy, the quilt I'm sending is the one on my page with the blue ribbon attached. that was from our local show last fall.
Kathy, that problem with your order being placed in the "holding area" is fixed. I'm so sorry about that! You can go ahead and order now.
