Sunny warm weekend! Wow!

Posted on May 16, 2009 at 8:45am 1 Comment

"They" say we might get up to 90 on Sunday here in the Portland/Vancouver area! A warm sunny weekend and a quilt class! Sounds like a perfect weekend to me!

And I can't believe it's been over a month that I posted anything. I have been reading the other posts, though, and enjoying Debbie Snyder's travelog.

I have gifted both grandson's quilts, the boys are here, and they are SO cute! You would all agree with me that they are THE CUTEST grandsons ever.... And now my sweet… Continue

Happy day

It's Friday! But the rain is back. Those few days of sun were wonderful! I have two windows in my quilt room that look out onto flower beds that my sweet husband adds flowers too all the time to make it nicer for me. And then I have a tall metal thing of a sun with a face that has hangers part way down on it. Rick put a bird feeder on that and it is so fun to watch the birds while I am on the computer or sewing.

I have a question-- What do you prefer to use for batting and why? We… Continue

Clark County Quilt Guild Show

Just got home from the CCQ Quilt Show in Vancouver and it was great! I never cease to be amazed at the talent of people. Simple quilts done in stunning ways, amazing quilting, and some really beautiful non-traditional quilts! It was so much fun. Anybody in the Vancouver, WA, area Friday or Saturday should be sure to stop by! Also, if you are in the Columbia River Gorge Saturday, Birdhouse Quilting in Stevenson, WA, is having her one year anniversary sale. Had to go to the CCQ show today because… Continue

It's the weekend!

And my weekend started when I walked out of the office last night! We are headed to a B&B in Gig Harbor for the weekend for our anniversary! See some friends, wander through little towns, enjoy ourselves. I am taking the umbrella, for sure, since the Seattle forecast is for rain. Well, it is the northwest in spring! I am taking a quilt I have about 24 inches of binding left to stitch. We will meet with friends and I will give it away tonight. A baby girl quilt! It was so much fun to make… Continue

To answer your questions...

Posted on March 22, 2009 at 12:53pm 1 Comment

I have gotten several questions about the pattern for my parents' anniversary quilt with the photos and thought I would share the info with all of you.

The photos on my quilt were printed on a product called Printed Treasures, which is an inkjet printable fabric lightly adhered to paper to make it work in the printer. I have been happy with it, and have seen demos of it compared to other printable fabric. This one seemed to have good color even after several washings. I use Microsoft… Continue

Hi Kathy
There are some pics on my site of the quilt finished and on the bed. You mentioned that you wanted to see it finished.
Are you going to the Innovations 2009 show in Tacoma Sept. 16-19? I will be there. I'm taking several classes. This may be my only chance to take so many classes. Money will be tight when I actually retire. Right now I'm part time and using up my PTO. When that's gone, my money for extras will be much less. But, retirement has many advantages, too.

Thanks for you interest and note, Cynthia Marrs

Thanks for your suggestion, Kathy. I'll give that a try with muslin. Beautiful day today after strong storms and over 5" of rain yesterday! Feel like I can sew today! Will post my quilt top and give you a head's up when I do. Thank you again........folks on this site are the best!
Love your crazy stars quilt!!!

We are hoping for better weather this year. Last year remember the snow and ice the last week of March? Well we were at the beach camping in it. We have a toasty warm trailer and electric blanket and our son has a camper so we will have some real fun close times I am sure.

We are going to Beverly Beach on Wednesday for Oregon spring break with the grand kids. I will show up some day I promise. My husband does the laundry for Dr. Min and I do the sewing. I have gone there for years. Who knows we may meet up there someday!

I was looking at the photo quilt you were talking about and I see you go to Dr. Min too! What a small world.

I wanted to let you know I did make it to the Library quilt show but I missed the first night and being able to meet you. I am about to try to make a landscape quilt for my husband so it was good to see the ones made up. I hope to show up to the quilt group there some day. I see you have met my sister in Colorado. This is a fun thing to share with her.

Congratulations on your new little grandson. I don't have grandchildren and probably never will so love hearing about others. My sister, Maxine Mueller, use to live in Washougal. She now lives in Vancouver. Wonder if you might know her?
