I've changed my quilt layout

As I added more little hexagons to the rows I had originally planned for my quilt, I became less and less thrilled with the look.

On Monday, I decided to play with other layouts to see if I could find something I liked. I tried the Grandmother's Garden with a different colored center hexagon but it was too busy. Then I realized that if I made the entire flower out of one fabric I "modernized" the look. I am completely in love with this look! And, I can put the flowers together as I go!… Continue

A new EPP quilter!

My step-daughter saw that I was hooked on EPP and asked that I show her so she could make "something small" like a pillow top. She didn't want to "over-commit" to anything else.

Well, I knew how it felt once you realized how easy and fun it is to do English Paper Piecing so I went over to her house for dinner Saturday with a completely prepared coupon organizer like mine.

Hi Kelley--welcome to the site!! Glad to see that you're enjoying the EPPs--the layouts are easy if you EQ--just plug in your color combinations and the virtual quilts enable you to have instant gratification, and more importantly, a really good tool for decision-making!! I do a limited amount of hand piecing--mostly needleturn applique--by hand, obviously!! But, there are always those irresistable patterns that are much more easily done by hand!! Just finished DS's Christmas sweater, now back to my applique, although another hemi is calling!!

You also inspired me to hand piece in general. I had been slowly foundation paper piecing a Harry Potter themed quilt, but found my machine piecing sloppy and discouraging. After listening to your podcast I picked that up and made a block by hand, and loved it. I then began hand piecing a quilt top for my new baby out of receiving blankets, and loving every stitch. Seeing my mother-in-law's EPP project sold me, I was memorized just looking at it. My order was shipped today, I will be EPPing very soon!. Thanks!

Hi, Kelly after hearing you talk about EPP on your podcast I decided to give it a try 3 days later and I am almost done with a small doll sized blanket for one of my daughters. I am hooked this is such a fun process craft. Thanks for the great podcast.

Hi, I just joined this group a few days ago and I am so excited to see other people with grandmothers flower garden. I started one about a month ago, I love working on it. I also changed a color on mine, now I really like it.
