About Me
I live is a small town just outside Minneapolis with my husband and our kids (8 year old son and 2 year old daughter). I learned to hand piece and quilt by taking a class almost 10 years ago, but I got away from it for several years. My very first quilt (mostly created during that Beginning Quiltmaking class) is just about done - I just have to get up the nerve to cut my fabric to make the binding strips. I did enter it in our County Fair (in an unfinished quilt contest) - and it won first place!
Hobbies and Interests
quilting, paper piecing, hand quilting, knitting, other
My pets are awesome!
Two cats - Bonnie and Jaguar

Productive Sunday

I tried to post this last night, but my computer wasn't cooperating...

---------------------------------------------------

It's about 10:30, and I'll be heading off to bed soon - but I feel like I got a lot done today!

We're working on remodeling our upstairs bathroom; we got the new tub/shower installed last week, and my husband patched the drywall around it on Saturday. This afternoon, I got in there to mud and tape the new drywall - I got the first coat on, and it… Continue

I did it!

I took Karen's Tuesday UFO (TUFO) challenge, and I actually finished my first quilt last night!

I nicknamed this one "Instant Gratification" - I started it during the time I had off work around Christmas, and I finished sewing on the binding last night. (Since I do everything - piecing and quilting - entirely by hand, and I was working on other projects at the same time - this is really fast for me!)

Since the quilt was still laid out drying when I left for work this… Continue

two links showing 3D flying geese.
http://www.ufo-rphanage.com/gander.shtml

http://quiltingquandry.blogspot.com/2008/03/3-d-flying-geese-tutorial.html

these are easy to do. 3D works for a number of different block configs. try a square folded once on the diagonal, laid over another square matching the raw edges, baste or sew to other squares so they stick and roll that diagonal folded edge back and stitch it down, much like cathedral window units.
google will find you many other 3D units, bowtie blocks, pinwheels, the list goes on and on, follow your imagination.
heres some more info on 3D possibilitys.

hope that helps,
