Working on another UFO!

Well it seems that with the economy in the terrible shape that it is in that this is the year for the UFO's!!! I've heard so much talk of everyone trying to finish some UFO's. Or at least I know that I am! I have a ton of them!! :)

I started out the New Year working on my Civil War Love Letter quilt. I have all of the blocks finished and 8 of the 11 rows sewn together! But I am trying to promise myself that I will have the top completely finished by the end of the… Continue

Today has been a good sewing day for me!!! One of my goals for 2009 is to finish my Civil War Love Letters quilt! I already had all of the blocks finished (121 of them) and I had a couple of rows sewn together. Here is a photo of the first row, take a couple of months ago!

Even though I still do not have it finished, I have more of it done! The quilt has a total of 11 rows with 11 blocks in each. I now have 8 rows sewn together!!!… Continue

This will be my first blog post for this site! I have another blog at.... quiltingcowgirl.blogspot.com.

And then of course I have a huge pile of quilt tops that need to be quilted! Hubby said that I could buy a quilting machine in a month or so. As of… Continue

Kristie, I don't have a blog other than on QWU. Glad your surgery went fine. Hopefully the swelling and bruising will go away soon. I just took three quilts to a quilter. She has 2 quilting machines. She is 2 hours away. I usually ship them but it makes me nervous. I am working on a pineapple quilt like Bonnie hunter from Quiltville.com I love her scrappy quilts. I too am looking at a Bailey. I don't want to and can't and don't need a Gammill. I am sure they are great as that is the machine that the lady that quilts mine has. But I just want a machine for me. No business starting. I wouldn't want the hassel of taxes and all that bologna.. Did you get any of the bad weather on Friday? We didn't. Just lots of rain. Hope you are on the road to a quick recovery.

Hi Kristie
Hope you are doing better after your surgery. Have you gotten to use your Bailey quilting machine? It is my dream to someday get one just for my self to use. Not planning on starting a business. I love reading your blog. Are you going to post pics of your quilts when you quilt them? I would love to see them. Hope you are feeling better soon. Happy quilting.

Hi Kristie - I know what you mean about other things getting in the way of advancing our quilting addition! When I was debt-free and could have purchased a HQ16, my little home didn't have space for one. Now that I've moved to my dream log home on 8 acres in the country, I'm not longer debt-free and there's not much extra to spend on my hobby. But, I'm hoping things will settle down and the money will be there for the HQ in the next year or two. I have the space for one now. In the mean time, I enjoy my Designer I machine that meets most all my sewing needs. Do you go to the AQS Paducah show in April?

Hi Kristie - Love your letter blocks. I really like the horse being in the picture. I'm in Cox's Creek near Bardstown and work in Louisville fulltime. Hope you get the quilting machine soon. I'd love to have a HQ Sixteen but will have to wait a year or two.
