This season finds me quilting just to keep busy. We've always celebrated the birth of Christ as a special day, with family and friends. My husband of 47 years went home to be with the Lord on July 4th this year. I feel like I have a huge hole inside. I'm driving to my daughter and son-in-law's tomorrow to spend a few days with them. They don't want me to be alone on Christmas. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas, Lauren. I did finish the Fall quilt, and I'm nearly finished with a Winter quilt. It is my first attempt at using a quilting-as-you-go technique. When it's done, I'll try to find out how to send you a picture.
Thank You Lauren for the Christmas greetings. I went out yesterday and finished up my gifts. Every year I say I'm going to work on projects all year and have my gifts all ready but it seems everything I make ends up going to a baby shower, wedding gift, birthday or someone wants to buy it from me so I'm left without anything. I'm going to try a different approach this year. I'm going to pack it away so no one can see it and any showers or wedding that come up I will go out and buy a gift. Merry Christmas
Lauren, I am also of Irish decendant as well as Scottish! My grandmother was a Sullivan and my maiden name was Wright (as in Wheelwright etc). I am also very drawn to the celtic knots. Karen Coombs has a wonderful book out that makes them very easy to do or I could never have done one!
Lauren, thanks for looking at my pictures. The Log Cabin Arrow is pretty common, with the colors I was using it was the most striking pattern :) It is a double bed size. Your quilts are just gorgeous! You are prolificate! I love seeing the family as well, and your kitty!! It looks like you are willing to try most anything - I am challanged by family memebers to make a certain quilt for them - otherwise I think I would stick to "safe" quilts :) Paula
thanks for your nice words on my painting - wouldn't dare do it by quilt - I prefer painting and quilting seperatly - if you stumble onto Diana Bracy's page here on QWU - look at her work - it is just as if she is doing both at the same time - she has been publish and her work is just fabulous - have seen it in person - try to take a look - and thanks again for my painting
Lauren, I love your Advent calendar; thanks for sharing. I love the idea of the gifts being pockets for the figures. Mine are all in a pocket on the back but it makes a bulge until it get's a little emptier.
