About Me
I have been driving a semi for 4 years. Quite a change of lifestyle for me. I've been driving solo for the past 2 years so I have room to have my quilting on the truck with me. I have many ufo's. My goal for 2009 is to get some of them finished. I've been sewing since I was 8. My mom taught me how to cut patterns from newspaper to make Barbie clothes. I made my first quilt when I was 19. (28 yrs ago). I still have it. It was a grandmothers flower garden, hand pieced and hand quilted. My first applique was patterns from the " Old Country Store". Still have it too. I have two grown children (28 and 26) and one grandson who is 9.
Hobbies and Interests
quilting, applique, hand quilting, knitting

Wonderful weekend!

I had a wonderful weekend! I spent time with DH, and while he was sleeping I had time to get online a while yesterday morning and had time to sew while he was sleeping this morning. He is a late sleeper / nighttime driver and I am an early riser / daytime driver. This afternoon we put down new carpet in his truck. There was a couple pieces left big enough for me to put a couple "mats" in my truck. I prefer smaller mats..much easier to pick up and shake the dirt off outside. I have carpet in the… Continue

Some days....

When I got up this morning I knew it would be a hectic day. Had to wait for an empty trailer then drive 100 miles to reload. Fill out trip envelopes to get paid, make several phone calls as early as possible, and wound up having to do the "watermelon 500" just before rush hour was over tonight...in the misting rain. Well, made it to Temple, Ga, without running out of hours for the day, had a pull through and thought "Wow this is great!". Got online and was feeling pretty good about getting every… Continue

My Life on the Road.

Has anyone heard of Charles Johnson and the Revivers? They are a Southern Gospel group from Durham, NC that's been around for about 25 or so yrs. "Let's Have Church" is my favorite CD by them. I can listen to it over and over and never get tired of it. So while going down the road I am playing it or another CD by them or just enjoying the "quiet". I've never been much of a tv watcher, so don't have a tv on my truck and don't want one. It would sit unused collecting dust. I put my microwave where… Continue

LIFE IS GOOD!:-)

Hauled my first load with my new truck yesterday. It drives and rides good. Shifts alot easier than I expected. Last night was the first night sleeping in my new bed, and even tho I had to be parked downhill I slept like a baby! Didn't reload today so I bobtailed to Wal-Mart, did some shopping then came up to the truck stop. Made some progress on my clamshell quilt. Almost have the border far enough to attach it to the main part (only 40 more pieces). And when I looked at our settlement sheets f… Continue

Moving is DONE.

I have everything moved to my new truck. It's not all put away but it's in there. Love the cabinets with latching doors. Will probably be arranging and rearranging for a while.
Tommorrow I sign the papers for it and get all the other stuff set up....ins, prepass, ect. My DS come by to look at it earlier and he said he really likes it. I took some pictures that I am going to post on my page in a minute.

Good Morning, Laurie. Hope you have a great day today. I'm sure we have passed Stroud many times on our drive from Michigan to Norman...I-44 is the route we take. I'll pay more attention to the town names next time! Saw your pix of a clamshell quilt. Is that one of your "in progress" projects? You are brave for tackling something like that! Are you piecing it or doing it by applique? Enjoy!

Thanks for your post to my blog.It sounds like you have a very interesting life on the road! I will check out Charles Johnson and the Revivers, I love gospel music. I am learning to play the mountain dulcimer and my first song to perform for the family will be Amazing Grace. Hopefully I will have it learned by Christmas, my gift to them. I hope you enjoy your time with your DH, even for a few minutes as the time is so precious and there is always time later for quilting,,,ouch, did I just say that?? No seriously, it was nice to "meet" you, and be safe out there. God Bless...

Thanks for your nice comments about my book, Laurie. I, too, hope it does well. Seems lots of quilters are using up their stash these days...this book might help with that!
Wondering where Stroud, OK is? My daughter lives in Norman. Drive carefully!

Laurie, did you know that Denison,TX has quite a history? It was the birthplace of President Dwight D. Eisenhower & he was the first US president to be born in Texas?
(Yeah, I know, I am one of those freaky people that loves history & trivia) :)

I LOVE all of those old historical towns (like Denton, Granbury, Weatherford etc) for those wonderful old courthouses!

No, I am not from Ranger.....(Ever have fun climbing Ranger Hill on I-20 with black ice?) further South in Erath County was where I was raised. Still have a little family there.

Laurie, I have never heard their music before but they are good. I can see why you love to listen to them, there music is awesome for listening to while going down the highway. Singing about the Lord and it being upbeat and praising, no wonder you love it. I am sure it makes the time pass in a really good way!!! I saw him singing with the Gaithers too, that was awesome. Love it when they all get to singing together!! One of these days when they come to Nashville, I want to go!! Have a good night in your "Blue Heaven". God Bless, Linda

I did see your comments on the group, I left you a message, I will check them out tomorrow. Thanks for praying for Adam. I don't have an update until he sees the neurosurgeon.

I am thrilled that you have named your truck "Blue Heaven". You have touched my heart. I felt something special in my spirit when that came up in my mind and I shared it with you. "Blue" I love it. You are such a special lady and I am so blessed to call you my friend and sister in Christ.

I have been feeling better but today I have been cold all day and my sinus is bothering me again. I have a busy day tomorrow but can rest the remainder of the week, hopefully I won't get this back again. I have been on the site more and I have also gotten a quilt quilted. I got my dil's quilt, machine quilted and Thursday "Lord willing" I will get the binding done. I would love to give it to her on Thanksgiving. How are you coming along with what you are doing? My last bible study on Esther is tomorrow. I am sorry to see it end. It has been such a blessing. What a wonderful story of courage and faith. Even though God is not mentioned in the book He is all over the book.

Barb sent me a prayer request for her son Adam a few minutes ago. Please lift him up in prayer Laurie. I prayed a few minutes ago. It could involve a surgery to stop some bleeding in his head. He is the one who is going to be a new dad. Lets agree to keep him covered for healing by the blood Jesus shed on the cross for our healing.

God Bless You Laurie, have a good night! Love, Linda

Thanks Laurie. I'm working on the cutest Christmas Tree Door Hanging. I bought the pattern last Friday at one of our local shops. I'll post it in a day or so when I'm done. I figured since I don't put a tree up cause we leave for south before the holiday, this would be the replacement until we leave..lol
