How is everyone doing? Since my last post I inherited a serious quilters fabric stash. I've made a few quilts, currently quilting a sailboat quilt for my grandson who will soon be 5 yrs old. The youngest grandson will soon be 2 and is due a new quilt.
So many quilts on my round tuit list...
I have 3 quilt top wips in patterns I found on pintrest.
I am full time at the PD as night shift dispatcher. It's great because I can work on projects in my free time. That is…

Life got a bit hectic shortly after my last post. But things are getting a little better now. My husband was declared legally blind on June 7th of this year due to a rare genetic eye disease called Retinitis pigmentosa. He can no longer drive and has applied for disability.
I'm training to be a dispatcher at the Stroud Police Dept. It's great because it's across the intersection from my house. I will be taking my OLETS certification test on Oct 12.
As for quilting, I go…

Laurie, I went back to see what my favorite YouTube teacher had to say about toe up socks and guess what? You do lose a stitch using the crocheted on cast on. Also, when you reclaim the stitches they always end up between the stitches already on the needle. We were both right! One lady says she always casts on one extra stitch with the crochet cast on so she'll have enough, then once she begins knitting she knits two together to decrease to the correct amount.
You are blessed not matter what happens in your life,,will continue to pray for the 2 of you- You do some nice quilting...
My Dh never got first shift but instead we moved, got our dream home here in North Carolina,,we really love it here,,we are really blessed,, no matter how hard it is God is always watching over you...I think you already know this..Be safe,,please. Go back to quilting,,,life if always better when you do.
Laurie, I just looked at all your photos again and you have some really beautiful quilts. My brother drove a logging truck until he died from a heart attack in '89 and he was 10 days shy of turning 47. My DH and I would take a vacation with the kids and go where he lived and would get to ride in his truck. It was a great time for us to be together and I loved it. I miss him so much and our special time together. So, I can see why you love driving a truck. Stay safe and keep up the good quilting. AND, enjoy your new socks.
I'm glad your doing well, and making quilts. I understand about not going out yet. William needs you nearby and you would always be concerned about him while you were gone. I'm so glad your both getting better. Today I'm trying to catch up on some alterations. I want to start some Christmas gifts and make two or three purses. I just picked up a new purse pattern in Walmart for a purse with ruffles. My granddaughter told me awhile ago she seen a purse with ruffles and would like to have one. She has a birthday next month so think I will make it for her bday. I always send Bud's sister one for Christmas so must get started on them. Enjoy your quilting.
ur welcome for the chuckle. I hope you and dh continue to heal and get better. it has been a long haul and I am glad it is heading in the right direction....:o)
Laurie, thank you for that comment. You never know who you are encouraging...you and your hubby have gone through such a hardship...but, did it with strength and hard work. You have inspired many, who whine over a hang nail. It's good to hear you're going to be trucking soon, you must have missed that so much. Be Careful!!!
Glad you both are home. and that your keeping busy with quilting, you will be inspiring us. and you shuold have written a book. after this is all done.
I have made a rainbow quilt, it is the jelly roll challange, oh it was so much fun.!it is to remind me to what they stand for,,,
also my DH may be getting 1 st shift,,he has an inteview this morning. but I am standing on the Word. is is dry here but we do have some rain to off set it,,but we are still short some.
Here is hoping you be on the road again, very soon.
So glad you are keeping busy. I'm sure it still gets old being in the hospital. Do you like to read? I'm sure watching TV gets old, especially if that's not something you do on a regular basis - and being an OTR driver, I'm sure you didn't watch a lot of TV! :D
We're getting ready for branding (22nd) and for DD's wedding (23rd). We're shipping steers the week after (sometime between the 27th & 30th). It is getting a little crazy, but I feel like my deep housecleaning is done and I'm ready for whatever. Still need to get my meals planned out and grocery list made. I'll be working on food prep next week.
Blessings! I think of you often and look forward to your updates.
Sorry this is late...found it in my spam....the material with fish/and glasses I got at my local quilt shop.....Whipper Snappers in Hallowell, ME....622.3458...owners name is Lynn and usually is there...trust this helps...she is a very helpful person....one of my favorites...
Glad to hear of your progress. It has been such a long haul already for you both. Pray that you continue to recover and hope you can start to get back to some piecing. Wish I were closer and could lend a hand. Have been taking care of DH as he is recovering from knee replacement surgery. I cannot begin to imagine what you're going through. Just know that you are loved and thought of and lifted up in prayer. God is faithful and will see us through. Feel free to send me an e-mail any time. My address is on my page.
