Third annual Trunk or Treat Event

Posted on October 30, 2010 at 5:45pm 3 Comments

Since moving out to the country 20 years ago, I could probably count on one hand the number of times we've been visited by trick or treaters. The houses here are pretty spread out and the center of this one-street-light town is at the intersection of two busy state highways so it's not a good place for kids to go around on Halloween night. I imagine their parents drive them to a few places or else take them to some of the nearby villages that have sidewalks and houses are closer…

Canning day

No not the CT fabric (although I hope to get some of that soon) but the start of my tomato canning for this year. I was lucky that it was cloudy and rainy today and therefore DC (dear cannine) didn't pester me too much for walks. I did take her for a couple of short ones but most of the time she just curled up for a nap. Lookout tonight then when she'll be ready to go!

I was…

Thanks for stopping by my "dad's toolbox" blog.  It's been frustrating to find out that he didn't want any of us kids to receive his tools.  There are so many fond memories attached to them - it would have been nice to at least get a hammer and know that each time I used it, my dad also held the tool.  Will have to find another way to help with the healing process of losing my dad.

Thanks for your comments to my post. The shop keeps telling me to take classes. The next free one is during the time we are going on a trip. There is also going to be neighborhood party the same day. They are four blocks to the  neighborhood party. It always seems to work that way.

My sister is a Hughes.

Linda, DH had his stroke about 5.5 years ago.  He is also very independent for most things.  But, as you mentioned, there are things I need to assist him with since he has residual paralysis on his right side.  I will keep you in my thoughts as you have some hurdles ahead.

I'm glad you got one, too. My husband was looking at a decorative stitch I was making and said he could see it even without his glasses on. If I had room, I'd like a floor lamp. Sometimes you just need some input before you spend the money on something.

I noticed from your recent post that you said you moved to the country. You list New York as your state. I sent you a reply about the Trunk or Treat. I moved to western Ky 21 yrs ago this month. DH & I are from Mastic Beach & LK Ronkonkoma on Long Island. Where abouts are you from?

Thank you Linda. Looking at all the wonderful and beautiful things everyone has done just inspires me to never leave my sewing room! I see you are from New York, I used to live just south of Buffalo in a little town called Fredonia. I also love your photos - I miss a real spring. We had a huge lilac bush growing in our yard when i was young - here in Texas we have a mountain laurel that i s similar, but I still miss spring - Have a great day!
