About Me
I've been disabled since December 2007 due to a red light runner. So I spend most of my time making quilts mostly for charity. I've tried to work on my UFOs, but I keep cutting out more quilts or other projects. I also always seem to say 'yes' when asked to make something for a friend. Someday I just might say 'no'. Lately I've made mostly scrappy quilts. Yet my scrap baskets are still overflowing, I don't understand how that happens.

I belong to a quilt group in Phoenix called Reap What You Sew. They distribute approx. 2500 quilts annually to various charities in the Phoenix area. I started a small chapter of RWYS at my church in Scottsdale. We take quilt tops that people make and put batting and backing to them and then tie them. When they are finished we return them to the main RWYS group for distribution in the fall. A friend has taken over since I moved to Ohio and she has done a great job. I love to see how the group has grown since I left when I visit each winter.

Now that I've joined the Ohio Quilters, I'm looking forward to meeting some of you this year. Since I'm unable to drive, I hope you will stop in and visit me if you are in my neck of the woods. My door always welcomes a fellow quilter!

Amish Country Retreat Aug.23 -26,2012

The retreat is over, but we all are planning for next year. We had a great time working on new projects and completing old UFOs. We developed new friendships and deepened old friendships.Friends stopped in to say hello and  folks staying in the hotel stopped by too. It was a great weekend. It was sad to say goodbye...but there's a little (maybe not so little) gremlin already at work for next year. Shhh..... it's still a secret until an announcement is made.

Happy quilting!

Sneak Peak at Remodeled Sewing Room

Posted on March 17, 2013 at 2:00pm 12 Comments

The moment is almost here when I can finally move back into my sewing room.  Right now I can move in the Elna, but I'm trying to figure out a way to bring in the Pfaff too. I have a friend who comes over and sews strips and/or squares for me. I.m trying to figure out if the small table will fit and still give me enough room to move around without being too constricted. . Let me explain some of the changes. I've had new windows put in. They've already been tested thanks to Mother Nature; and…

Identity Theft - Don't Be a Victim

I'm not a technical person. To prove it my computer was at the computer hospital for 5 days with the black plague...."oh no, not the black plague." But Dr. Chris, how could this have happened?? Did I download anything recently? Well, yes. Norton did their usual check and said there were 16 drivers that needed repair or replaced. They suggested  XYZ Company. So I bought XYZ software for $35 and downloaded it following the wizard instructions. After it was downloaded, it went to work and fixed…

I've been sorting and sorting. Last evening I found this poem that my dear friend Elaine Waite wrote for me in March 2008. I would like to share with you. She did not title the poem.

Mourning tears called on the Lord.

Save her! Restore!

Let her live, she loves you!

She has many quilts to do!

Bless her days, comfort the nights

Bring her back from death's sight.

You, oh Lord, are the One

Who gives life and the…

I hear what your saying about naps.  It seems when I try to get one during the day, it's nearly impossible to get more then 15 min. if I'm lucky.  The phone always rings if I take a nap or am trying to watch a good program on t.v.

Hi Linda, so nice to hear from you.  I hope you got a good nap.  Sounds like you needed it with all the work you have doing.  I wouldn't get that many quilts done in a year. lol  I'm too busy with alterations to get any real sewing done.  I have been getting some hard things to alter.  And it's my gown season with proms taking place. I'm doing laundry today and want to start a purse as soon as I get done.  Everything I want to do I have to stop and do something else first it seem. Have a great day.

Make sure to print at 100% and check that it prints for a 6" finished, 6 1/2" unfinished size.  If it won't let me know and I'll send in a different form.

Good Morning Linda, so nice to hear from you.  I have been extemely busy. My alteration business has been busy since Christmas and lately I have been trying to squeeze in some Spring cleaning along with helping with a food sale for the guild. Among all the regular duties, like meals, shopping etc.  I had to take my sister to Bangor yesterday for a dr. appointment. Got to take her back to Bangor next Tuesday again.  But I'm fine otherwise.  It is raining here today so a good day to get some sewing done.  Thanks for touching base with me.

Hey Linda~ I am feeling better and trying to take advantage of the past two days of 80 degree weather! Will be back in the 50's tomorrow :/  YES, I am excited and have been trying to get some tops finished up and work on my SB Sue's.  Cleaned up the 2 spare sewing machines and creating a travel sewing kit/basket too. Getting ready to get a shower and try to get to bed early tonight, Cupcake will be here tomorrow around noon and stay until sunday.

No, Linda, I'm not very close to San Rafael, although that is northern California.  I am located much further north, near the Oregon border.  Glad you like the moose quilt!

Yes Linda, I got your message, thank you!   I just got high speed internet set up today and I am trying to get everything straightened out.  Someone hacked my QCA account and I cannot get in there :(

So good to hear from you Linda :) I'm working on Irish Chain Quilt - have all the strips made and now sewing into blocks. there are 2 different blocks - need 63 and have about 30 made so far. 3 shades of green and cream - going together beautifuly, so far LOL  I'm glad you are doing well and your sewing room sounds great! Now you will be able to sew in there all the time which will be nice, I'm sure. I'm feeling o.k. - have good days and really tired days but doing much more than I did a year ago. I take one day at a time. You know what I mean. Sounds like you have been very busy sewing quilt tops - it's wonderful that you do that for charity. we are to get more snow overnight and into tomorrow. today I sew - tomorrow I clean LOL Hugs to you, Becky

Thanks Linda, most spend some time with me! We get invited to a lot of weddings, because my hubby has research students for two year blocks. They all seem to get married during that time. So, I pull one out if I know they like quilts. Then of course they have babies!
