Not cheating in my mind. Your work is still beautiful and it take times to do it, even if your embroidery machine helps a little. I have an embroidery machine, but used it only once on a baby quilt for my daughter's friend...the quilt turned out so cute.
However, I got so bored watching it and changing the thread colors so it now sits on a shelf ...at least for now. I only kept the machine because that same daughter expressed great interest in learning to use it. I later realized that interest only lasted as long as it took me to finish her friend's baby quilt, LOL.
I belong to the new Threadpainting group here now too. I like to use my sewing machine to do free motion threadpainting and sketching on my quilts. I've been working at learning this technique, off and on, for a couple of years now and I can see progress. I've even made a few postcards that I've swapped with other threadpainters on a Yahoo group I moderate too. It is FUN!
Maybe you will want to try it someday...no limit on design or size..that "no limit" is what finally pulled me in the direction of doing free motion threadpainting instead of using my embrioidery machine too. Both methods of doing this type of work are lovely though and you should be proud of your quilts. As I said, it is not cheating.
Funny girl! Thx for comments on age and quilts. 8)
Photo from about 3 yrs ago when I was the same age as your DH. Not willing to post a newer one yet. "GRAVITY" has been even more unkind to me lately, LOL.
Well, I'll TRY to go look at your quilts now...I'll just skim down quickly from upper portion of your page. Have a great day.
Lisa, it is NOT fair. 8) That man in your icon photo is soooo handsome. Don't worry, I'm waay too old for him, LOL. It's just that it is so hard to go look at your quilts when you have that photo of you AND him here too. No offfense meant...just letting you know...
Lisa, your pfaff wouldn't be the 7570 would it? That is the one I have and I agree it is very heavy to tote around. I have had the machine for about 5 years but I purchased it second hand without the embroidery unit. Then before Christmas my daughter spotted one on e-bay for $65 and snapped it up. Haven't fired it up yet, but I certainly will.
My pfaff dealer told my that the 7570 is probably the best model pfaff has made, not to trade it off. So I will keep it and I also have a Performance 2058, which I love.
Keep up the lovely work Lisa and good luck with your very looooong list for 2011. I hope you take time to eat and sleep. LOL
Bev.
Lisa, I just scrolled through all your photos. Your work is exquisite, also love your embroidery work. What brand of embroidery machine do you have? Love all the patterns. I have a Pfaff embroidery machine haven't done much with it as I just recently was able to get the embroidery attachment.
Keep up the good work. I also love table runners and toppers. I like to see my results quickly. LOL
