Primitive Quilt Patterns

All, I am wanting to change the decor in my dining room to a Primitive (and/or Americana perhaps) decor. I rarely see any wall hanging patterns in a Primitive design. Anyone have any ideas? I'm looking for a sizable quilt, perhaps table topper size. Thanks.

CT Website

CT, I've been meaning to say, hats off to Andy? and website crew. (Got the name from peeking at one of your pages). I've been on a lot of sites and this one is put together really well. I am impressed. Not that my opinion matters of course but as a customer it is nice to have an eye-pleasing layout, nice colors, content can be found easily, good navigation, .... some sites just have pages that run on and on and the search feature is awful. Today I was on a site that obviously used dynamic loadin… Continue

Nice to hear from you Lisa - After setting the crooked Bargello in a corner, I finally got determined enough to just finish the dang thing. I had promised myself I wasn't going to start anything new until I'd gotten caught up on a couple of UFO's and I was sticking to my promise! So I ironed the heck out of it and threw on a black border to frame it. I then got the idea to hang it over the window in the spare bedroom that my son is temporarily using. As you can see by the picture on my page, the width is noticeably different. But what the heck - I finished it and that's really all that counts. Then a couple of weeks ago, I was reading an article in Quilters Home that talked about doing these types of quilts. Their advice was to be sure that you alternate the direction that you attach the rows - left to right and then right to left - in order to avoid this very problem. I sure wish the pattern would have provided that tidbit of helpful info - it make perfect sense to me now!
I took another UFO to a long arm quilter a couple of months back since it's a quilt for my sister in law. I was REALLY disappointed and am very frustrated with the result. Lots of very noticeable puckers and I can't identify the pattern she used on the triangles (very sloppy). It will be very time consuming for me to try to correct it and am afraid to take it back since I fear she may do something worse if I ask her to fix it. I'm thinking of diving into something new just to help clear my head.
I sure like your fall quilt - especially the colors and the trailing oak leaves.

Lisa---I just wanted to say that your Fall quilt is beautiful.. I meant to tell you earlier but we got sidetracked talking about the SSD quilts. Whose designs are they? I usually don't do seasonal things but this one makes me think that maybe I should.

I know, I even have quilt blocks. Now that I am retired I plan on doing lots of things. BUT in my 61 years, I have only finished one quilt. Make sure I see your quilt when you finish. I am doing a SBS block tonight.

Lisa, at least your SBS will have some organized coordination. Mine will be more like organized chaos. Of course that is how my days are lately. I keep telling myself I am just going to work out of my existing stash. Problem is my stash continues to have a life of it's own. Guess that is part of what existing means, to have life.

Lisa, have tried machine quilting but just don't seem to get the hang of it. I need to spend much more time practising but just don't seem to have the time for that. One of these days, maybe I will take the time. Do not want to quilt large items but sure would like to quilt/stipple some of my wallhangings, table runners, etc. Have a great day!

Lisa, Snickers is the white one in the photo. Nimpkee is the black one in the basket. We lost Nimpkee in 2006 - Oct. 13 to heart problems probably due to the remidyl he had to take for arthritis. We had him for 13 years and he had been abused. Snickers we got at 7 mos. old in Feb. 2007, one week before we lost Dad to cancer. He was a real Godsend for us. He is supposedly Yorki-poo. He is definitely more poodle than yorki but has a little of the yorki temperment. Thanks and your quilt is gorgeous. Sure wish I could machine embroidery but can't even machine quilt sooooo.......
