Tips on Stippling...

Posted on January 17, 2009 at 4:14pm 2 Comments

Today was a good day. I just spent the day with my best gal pals quilting! So....I'm wanting to try my hand at stippling and one of my friends (who is an amazing quilter) was giving me a demo and tips one of which is practice, practice, practice. Just wondered if anyone else had any other tips also.

Walking Foot - Can you leave it attached all the time.....

Is it best to change out your walk foot if you are just making your top or blocks or can you just leave it on for most all sewing needs?

Stiching In the Ditch Question....

Good morning everyone!! Now, I've been quilting for many years but believe it or not have never stiched in the ditch. I just saw some videos on u-tube on how to, my only question now is do you use the same color thread that is on your top or your backing or does it matter? The project that I'm working on I suppose you could call an Amish style. The backing is black but my blocks are in purple, green and gold. Everyone's thought and suggestions are appreciated

Good morning..It's 9:45am on a misty and unseasonably warm day for January in Ohio. I just joined Connecting Threads thanks to invite from my friend (Thanks Susie!). It's funny, I overheard my husband talking to someone and he said that he bought his wife a sewing machine for Christmas and didn't realize that it would mean he wouldn't see… Continue

Good Morning Lisette: I am a big fan of using a varigated thread when there are multiple colours on the quilt top, Matching the backing of course if it is a solid colour. Our local fabric store recently closed and I spent most of my money buying out the thread department. A friend aske "When are you ever going to use those varigated threads?" Well believe it or not almost all the time. I have even convinced others that that was the way to go on the homespuns etc.
