I retired in 2004 from teaching, and FINALLY have time to explore my many interests in depth, relax and enjoy my family and home, and travel!! I am a lifelong sewer, quilter for only a few years. I love it! My other interests are designing purses, making jewelry, indoor and outdoor gardening, watercolor painting, genealogy, and writing. The only problem in my life: there are STILL not enough hours in the day!!!
I have a wonderful husband who just retired also, so we are adjusting to a new lifestyle. We have a great family: two grown children, and 5 outstanding grandchildren. We also have 4 Westie dogs, Abby Age 9, Ferdie age 14, and our two new puppies, Micky and Maizie who are siblings born April 15 2010. Our older dogs have traveled with us, by car and love it! We have traveled to Arizona for a month twice. We plan to go again, when the puppies are fully trained. It would be nice to be able to make it an annual thing. Our son and his family live out there, the rest of us live in New York State.
Hope to meet a lot of interesting women here!

Lyn: Forgive me but somehow I deleted your message with the picture of the Featherweight. I was trying to figure out how to send the pic to my friend. Would you send it again and if you have any suggestions about forwarding the pic please send them also.
Hi Lyn: Never been sure how this friends thing works. But it's about time I moved into this century.
I asked about your featherweight because I have a friend who collects sewing machines. I don't know that she started out deliberately to collect them but since she retired her collection has reached 9 or 10, including a black featherweight. I think she needs a white one to take to Florida for the winters and I know she'll want to know how old and how much when I tell her about yours.
Hi Lyn, It's been forever since I have checked into the NYS Stitchers........... How is every little thing going? Any new and exciting events in the future? I hope you have been enjoying your puppies and quilting along the way. I was re checking your photos and realized that the grands must been getting pretty well grown now....... It just doesn't seem possible how quickly the time gets away from us.....
I have been re-connecting with several of my high school classmates, as our 50th is coming up in 2014...... It's been lots of good times, as we have been meeting for lunch monthly and still looking for several classmates also....
Thank you for inviting me to be your friend. It's my pleasure. I am in the process today of getting my laundry done while I work at organizing my sewing room. I have been nose to the sewing machines for months and this room is a mess. I went out and bought a wardrobe to store fabric in to cut down on the clutter. It's almost full to the brim and I have only made a dent in the fabric stash. One shelf is full of bags full of alterations. I told my clients they could drop it off but I wouldn't be getting it done until after Christmas. So guess what I will be doing tomorrow. Yep, you guessed it. ALTERATIONS.
I bought 2yds each of 9 different Christmas fabrics today that was half price. I figure I can start some table runners, apron, or whatever I come up with and put it away for next Christmas. My problem will be remembering where I put it. lol
Lyn what did you teach? I teach kindergarten and go back tomorrow as well. Retirement calls but financially I cannot do it yet. I love the kids and the job but it is exhausting. I was thinking of doing my masters thru U of Alaska(Juneau) but finally decided against it. Getting too old for academic courses LOL.
The challenge is out, lets see how many of us can join the wonderful new campaign called Stitching for Pink !!! Starts today until 30 October. Its gonna be so much fun with 10 projects to complete. Come on Embroiderers lets unite and join the fight against Breast Cancer !!!
Thank you everyone for the emails and the birthday messages on NYS Stitchers. I had a lovely day! We have 2 new Westie puppies, and they started my day out with lots of little puppy kisses. Hubby and I went to pick strawberries, such a perfect morning to do that! I spent part of the afternoon getting berries ready for the freezer, will finish the rest tomorrow. We picked about 30 quarts. This evening he took me to dinner, then a walk with all 4 of our dogs. The puppies are hilarious when they run after us and the older dogs!! Now I am winding down, just wish those pups would too!!
Hopefully tomorrow I will get some sewing in!!
