Moving is hard work!

Hey everyone! Now been just over a month since my shoulder surgery and going crazy wanting to get back at my sewing machine to piece and quilt. In the meantime I have moved, well mostly as some stuff still at old apartment.

My oldest son, Chris, rented a big house for us and I am in heaven! I got to take over the master bedroom and bath along with the big family room. So now the family room is my quilting/craft room. Wow, it's huge. I have be stuck in a corner of the…

Post surgery

Posted on March 7, 2010 at 4:38pm 6 Comments

Hello to all of my quilting friends! This will be short as I am still recovering from surgery. Okay, I know I didn't mention that was going to happen. My left shoulder got so bad replacing the joint was the only choice left. So last Tuesday I got it fixed, was home by Thursday afternoon and it has been an upward battle. I feel like I am winning though even though I am not on pain meds at the moment as I found out I was allergic to oxycodone the hard way. I'm basically bored wishing I could…

Hope everyone had a lovely Valentine's Day and now it's also The year of the Tiger so Happy New Year. I am a Tiger so I know what kind of year it can bring, look out!!

I have been trying to work on my UFO's, joined a challenge on a quilters forum to finish one each month this year. So far January was a breeze, got it done in plenty of time. Can see pics on my site here, it's the Penny Candy kit from Connecting Threads, did it for my friend Cathy. She loves it and I had a…

Blessings and sorrow

Posted on January 16, 2010 at 7:59am 3 Comments

I've been quiet out here since Christmas, but thought today I needed to post. Have been hearing and seeing all the sorrowful tragedy in Hati and it is making me take stock of my own life and situation.

I am in chronic pain from my arthitis and my shoulder needs surgery soon, I can take medication to help, get surgury to help and I have access to doctors everyday. Those in Hati didn't have the kind of medical care that we have here till this horrible earthquake happened, now some of them… Continue

I was born and raised in Illinois. Always fun to find someone who lives there.
My dad was crazy about trains and had a 2 car garage devoted to HO railroad models. He built mountains, cities etc. We owned a very small grocery across from the Illinois Central Roundhouse in Mattoon IL. When dad heard about wrecks he would make sandwiches for the cleanup crew.
Now my brother has all the models and hopes to build his own cities someday.
Thanks for bringing back good memories for me!!!

Lynda, So happy to hear from you. I was doing good at getting online and talking with others from Illinois and then things got really busy around here, I lost contact with people. It is my own fault for not getting online and feeling like I had nothing to comment about. There are so many talented quilters online and I am really several steps behind. I think I will have to make a New Years resolution to do better this next year. What are you working on right now? Sewing for our grandson was my project he was born on October 2, 2009, Now we just learned we are getting a granddaughter in May so my next project will be for her. Have a great day. Debbie
