About Me
I have been quilting since 1997. I walked into our loacl quilt shop and said I would like to learn how to make a quilt. At the time I had no idea what a rotary cutter and a mat was . About 40 quilts later, piles of fabric all over my sewing room which once was a guest room, Sorry. I'm hooked. I better live till I'm 100. I have lots of projects and ideas.

In Need of a New Iron

Posted on April 15, 2011 at 8:47pm 6 Comments

I'm in need of a new iron. My Rowenta is on it's way out after eight years. I would like to change it up a little and try something new. Any ideas or should I keep it the same.  freezing rain here in Michigan. I don't think the warm weather will ever  get here. Golf league starts in two weeks, it better. Take Care All

Happy Mothers Day.

Well I had to close up all the windows and turn the heat back on. Living in Michigan you would think I would be use to it by now but I'm not. All the flowers are blooming in the backyard and I only can enjoy them looking out the back window. I hear the U.P got seven inches of snow today. What a good day to sew.

Need a new Iron

A few months back, a few of the ladies were talking about a new iron they bought and were very happy with it. They claim it was better then the rowenta. I'm looking to buy something different. My last rowenta was leaking water and I about had it. I need something new. HELP.

It is all assembled and I have all the HST's made for the border.  I need to assemble them and get the borders on and I will be done.  Life just keeps getting in my way!

Thanks for the nice comment on my quilt.  This is the first one I have designed.  I hope to have the pattern up for sale in the next few weeks if you are interested.  It is a really fast  quilt with almost no waste.

I am not sure how many are doing the quilt through our shop.  It is a "pick up" block of the month program and not one where we meet and work on it.  There is quite a number of ladies doing it though.  Where on the Homestead Hearth website are they posting the direction corrections?  Thanks for the input!  Good luck in that show!

I am hoping that when I finally get all my blocks done on it that it will go together nicely.  Sounds like you ladies had a bit of trouble with it.  Hope mine doesn't give me any trouble.  It has been a lot of work doing this quilt.  I am only finished with Block #8 so far.  I got behind on doing them and am now trying to catch up.  Wish me luck with it!

Thanks again! The Gypsy in Me is made with Asian fabrics, but just screamed Gypsy for some reason. This is the ONLY time EVER that a quilt has "spoken" to me.

hi lynn!
what are you working on? i made a miniature i spy and put it in the common threads quilt show in wichita kansas (my sister lives there) and it came in 3rd in the miniature division. anita shackelford was the judge. they had 1,000 quilts in the show and 75 vendors. amazing! i haven't been able to do much quilting other than that because my hubby and i have been spending friday nites thru monday nites working up north on the house. he is on a 4 day/10 hour a day schedule at work. i don't know when we'll get up there to live. his mom just turned 89 and is in great shape for an 89 yr old but needs a bit of help. i've run out of room! nancy

hi lynn! i haven't been on this site for a while either. the house is going too slowly and we still haven't moved..... sigh...... i have been working on quite a few things and have been going to my granddaughter's school to volunteer. her teacher (who is a quilter) has each child making their own quilt. it is amazing what a child can do with the right direction. i took a class with karen combs (she has a nice website) and learned y-seams and the 3 dimensional blocks. they are challenging to make but so wonderful to look at! the weather has been up and down but mostly good. it was soso nice to hear from you! nancy
