Here I sit waiting for the magic of color to work on my hair. I looked in the mirror last night and told myself that I would not venture outside my house again without doing this. Waited too long this time and noticed that I am looking my age (just turned the big mid century mark). Guess I should be glad I have hair!!
My oldest step daughter is moving out so now that bedroom will be free for my newest member of the family. It has been bought and paid for since the quilt show…

Grace is my sister-in-law's great grandmother. My sister-in-law has one of Grace's show quilts - the Return of the Swallows. It is made up of tiny flying geese units about 3/8" x 1/2" in a bed-sized quilt. One of Grace's granddaughters is our neighbor and she has two of Grace's quilts - one is a forerunner of the petit point, only with larger pieces. I hope you get a chance to see some of her quilts.
I'm glad you like your Innova. I think of investing in a longarm so often because, like you, I want to finish my own quilt tops. There's about a dozen waiting to be quilted right now. With the cost of paying a long-armer to finish them for me, I could have a good sized downpayment on my own machine. Maybe someday, Lord willing.
Let me know when you are heading to Nebraska.
PS: How do you like your Innova?
Grace Snyder's petit point flower basket quilt is at the Quilt museum in Lincoln, but it may not be on display at the time you are visiting. You may have to write them and request a viewing. (It would be worth it.) I would love to meet up with you, but I'm on the opposite end of the state from Lincoln. I hope you have a great trip and enjoy the International Quilt Museum. I have been there twice and it has been worth the trip both times. If you go to their web site, it may tell you what will be on display during the week you are there. If you are passing through the central or western end of the state, let me know.
Lovely quilts, Marla. How do you find the time to fit such beautiful work into full-time nursing?
Hi Marla,
Happy Thanksgiving....maybe you could use your baby over the long weekend....
I have tried Superior( bought at the quilt show..lower price but CT is still a better buy)...When changing the tension...remember you need to move it more than your regular sewing machine....I have used lots of colors and types of thread...even the spindal type of thread....but most of the time I use CT...
I know several friends( NON Innova people) that have tension issues all the time.....But with my baby...I sometimes forget to check the tension....and she is just fine!!!
Hope you get some time playing on her...
Karen
HI Marla,
I have the Innova...love it and have done over 40 pieces....
Are yo loving yours??? I took some classes in Atlanta Ga at the Georgia Quilt show in Oct this year....Wow!! loved them and got a lot of knowledge from them...
Karen
Sorry for the delay in responding. No, I only did the tops. I took them to someone else to have the quilting done. The class I spoke of is through Quilt University at www.quiltuniversity.com They offer many different classes. Check it out, I'm sure you'd find something you would like.
