About Me
This is the first time I have joined an online group and I ordered the kit and cannot wait for it to get here. When I saw this quilt on the cover of the magazine I fell in love with the way it was quilted. I can't wait to make it and try to quilt it like the picture shows. Don't know if I can but will be a whole lot of fun trying. I have been quilting since 2001. I have a machine quilting home based business. I also teach quilting. I have taught at Smoky Mountain Quiltfest in Pigeon Forge, TN and also at Western Carolina University for the last 4 years. Am really looking forward to reading and quilting with everyone.

Twisted sister

I can't wait to get my kit. It still hasn't arrived yet. But I did get the book Hooked on Feathers. I have been playing with muslin on the machine and the feathers are flying. This is so fun. Am going to try quilting a wall hanging and table topper. I have been working on a scrappy version of Twisted Sister. I will be teaching this at two of our local quilt shops. It is really a fun quilt. Great way to use up scraps. Also working on a cathedral window at night while I sit and watch TV with my… Continue

Crayon quilt reply

Just a suggestion for a crayon quilt. I have made and quilted several crayon quilts. At the school my nephew goes to they needed quilts for an auction. I had the teachers cut 14" pieces of muslin and draw a pencil line at 12" for the children to create pictures. Their theme was the nativity. It was all second graders. the pictures they made were wonderful right down to angels that had on boots. You can use any picture and they are priceless.

Hi Marsha,
You sound like myself. My kit also arrived this past week and I too, start out cutting the blocks out. Got number three finished yesterday and decided to quit right there! I think I got a handle on the fabric and what can go where. It's good to know there is more than enough fabric in the kit. One always worries about that in BofM's. I have a busy week with other things, so I not sure how much sewing will actually get done. I have another course to do on Thursday and golfing today. Starting next week things should lighten up and I can get the pedal to the metal (that would be the sewing machine pedal and not the car!!!)
Happy Quilting and keep us posted.
Hugs, Gini

Good Morning Marsha! I'm sitting this morning in a hotel room in Scottsdale, AZ. My hubby (known as Tall & Handsome or T & H in my blogs) had a two week business trip so I got to tag along this time :D We head home Friday.

Marsha your quilts are absolutely stunning! Great work, girl!

About the diary quilt...earlier this month I found Mimi Dietrich's book. I believe it's her latest. In the book she proposes the concept of stitching your life, or telling the story of your life through blocks that signify events or have special meaning to you. The book has several patterns for various blocks that cover different areas (heritage, family, love, hobbies, etc.). They are pieced and appliqué and 6 inch block. The pieces blocks use rotary cutting technique. Of course the beauty of the quilt is that it leaves blocks open to your own design...it is your life after all!

Once I'm home I intend to begin the blogs on the quilt...I already have a few blocks made and waiting with stories waiting to be told :)

Have a great one!

Marsha,
Which number is the twisted sister quilt?
LOve your quilts!
#1 is something I would like to do to use up my scraps~....very nice~!
Does it have a name?
Glad you kit arrived.. I managed to cut out one block & sewed some yesterday.. but my blocks are only 14 3/8"
...so I guess I will not do any ripping.. as long as the other blocks are this measurment.
I swear I checked my seam allowance & it was 1/4 " when i started sewing????

Thanks for the info. The website shop didn't have it listed, but I emailed them to ask about getting it. You're right, it would be great for baby quilts - I'm due to make one right now.

Yes, it was. It's an appliqued wall hanging from Quilter's World magazine I think it was Apr/May issue from last year. We had a group of girls make these and had a ball doing it. There is a picture of all of us in the current issue of Quilter's World.
