Martha, we are both retired and have traveled since '98. We went to AK in '98 and then in '99 we went as far east as Gatlinberg, TN and south to Port Arthur, TX and that trip took about 2 months as did the AK trip. We feel very fortunate and truly blesseda to have been able to retire as early as we did. We plan on going back to AK this summer. My DH's sister and brother-in-law were our travel partners for those long trips and are going with us this summer.
The quilt that you made for your friend with cancer is really neat. I made a pink lap quilt for a friend who had breast cancer and she is a survivor, which makes me very happy. She also packed her quilt with her. Now, she lets the grandkids use it too. I have a lap quilt that I take with me wherever we go, when traveling. It fits across the width of our queen bed, so if it gets cold, I can pull it up. The only problem is, that it's not long enough when pulled up, so is not on our feet anymore. Hope you're not so cold where you are. We have been in the 40's at night and into the low 50's during the day. Very unusual for here.
