Martha,
What a great job you are doing by making quilts for the Linus project. I can only wait until I can retire. I am very close. Have been a nurse for 35 yrs and am very excited about the prospect of getting out of healthcare and spending more time quilting. I love my job but just would like to take a long hiatus. Your quilts are very lovely and I love the kaleidoscope quilt and the wall hanging. I do like doing baby quilts as I get a little bored if I have to do a thousand blocks for a large quilt. And, I love to make new ones that I have not made before. Two quilts I made went to the Ukraine which was very exciting.

Martha,
You make wonderful quilts- the colors are stunning - I love your kaleidoscope quilt . The Hungry Caterpillar quilt is very fun- I have seen fabric advertised for it and Brown Bear Brown Bear books- My kindergarten students would love the story quilts.

Thanks you for the compliments. I am new to quilting and the changing months wall hanging is called A Year In A Snap. The little quilts snap into the background one. You can't see it but I quilted the names of the months on the background one. The directions all come in a book called Quilter's Dozen Plus by Janet Selek. If your group does something like this I would love to see it.
A cotton Company mainly buys and sells cotton. We would buy from the farmer or Cotton Gin and sell it all over the world. I worked in the international department and it was quite interesting. Anyway we would get cotton samples from the gin after the cotton was baled. These samples are usually recycled and that's what mops are made of as well as break shoes for cars. Well we were allowed to take as much as we wanted for craft projects. I hope I can still get some. I wouldn't be surprised if some batting is made from these samples but I could be mistaken. darleen
Hi Martha, I just love your quilts. I especially like the red and black. It's quite stunning. I used fiberfill for the pin cushions. I stuffed them as tight as I could and it worked out just fine. I retired from a cotton company here in Memphis and the next time I get over there I am going to pick up some cotton samples to use. It's actually better for pin cushions because of it's density.
Just technically challenged, I guess. I got the message. What a great shop you have there! I have been out of town for business and the charity thing was pushed to the back burner. I will take the comments to the group and see what they most want to do.
