I have recently started quilting. I also enjoy sewing clothing, knitting, crochet, and making jewelry. I have a very loving husband and have not been blessed with children, but do have a cat to keep me company. I worked as an engineer at DuPont, but took a very early retirement recently due to health problems.

He is home from the hospital. They have done all they could. Now we wait and see. My daughter is hanging in there - problems but not bedridden. We know that prayers have helped. Thank you for being such a thoughtful friend.
Glad to hear from you, am also anxious to see your log cabin.
Here is the information about the block swap, due March 1. The theme will be Chocolate. This can be either the predominant color of your block or a fabric version of something chocolate.
The block you send me will be 12 1/2 " square, 12" finished.
Each block will be used as the basis for a wall hanging, whatever size you want to make with it. It's for your home.
Each person adds some little something "extra" in the package they send me that can be used as embelishment with the block as part of the wall hanging. ie: special "paper", beads, feathers, whatever strikes your fancy! . You can use other things as well. ( Be creative when you make your wall hanging and *feel* the moment! Decopage something on there if you want to! LOL)
The deadline is March 1, it is to be sent to Charlotte, if you want her address I can get it for you.
Hi Mary Alice, Start Quilting-Beginner Machine Quilt Making with Joan Hobbs who is one of the owners is excellent. They teach you all the basics. I took it after I had been "dabbling" in quilting and had taken another class at a community college which was far more expensive and not so great. This was just excellent because they walked you through the entire process and you learned lots of tips and tricks I would have never figured out on my own. Quilter's Hive also has a block of the month club where they teach you how to make a different block each month and at the end of the year you have enough to put together a coordinated quilt. Of course, Connecting Threads is a great resource for supplies. I really like their kits and the prices are reasonable/quality very good. And of course I appreciate the opportunity to meet nice East Coast Quilters on line here! Have fun maybe I'll see you up there some day! Charlotte
Thank you for remembering. He had surgery today but it will be 7 days or so until we know if it has been successful or not. I don't know if I mentioned this but my daughter also has fibro. and has been in the hospital with my grandson since January 2nd. I pray for extra strength for her and post-surgery pain relief for Matt. I will also pray for strength and energy for you.
Mary, welcome to the Newbie Group. I am sure you will love this group and they are so helpful. We are like a big family so come on it and join the fun. Ask a question and you will get a reply but you may get three or four replies and maybe not two the same but we will answer you. Anyway glad you came to chat with us and enjoy your stay.
Mary Alice, sorry to hear about your uncle and your problems. I've been away for a couple of days - it seems like weeks - so I feel behind. I hope everything is going as good for you as possible.
Love and Hugs, Dee
