I was born and raised in Iowa City but left the state in 1958. Now I'm back. (as of September 08). I'm a retired elementary school teacher/ librarian/
instructional media specialist/district technology coordinator (small school district so I wore many hats ;-). Now I have time and space to spend on my favorite interests of quilting, crafting and doll collecting. And it's so much more enjoyable when there are groups like this to share with.

Good morning Mary, I know what you mean about buying material. We don't seem to have shop hops here, I suppose that is because we don't have so many shops, in fact there is only one shop as a quilt material and a couple of shops selling a small amount of material, but nothing to speak of. We have a very big quilt show in Birmingham in August, I may go, but it's about 3 hrs away, it's international and very stimulating. I would definitely buy MORE material and I certainly do not need it or place to put it, but unfortunately I am weak and the fabric magnet is strong.
I am meeting up with a friend today she is going to show me how to put together my hand quilted blocks using the quilt as you go, I want to make them into two single bed covers, will keep you posted. Just heard on the tv that big storms are on the way, so the beach walk with the Rotary Club may have to be cancelled to night. The tv is full of the new royal baby, what a public life in front of him, but the are lovely parents, I am sure the have learned lots of lessons over the years.look forward to hearing from you.
Hello Mary, it is truly wonderful when we move over from our day time profession to be able to indulge in our hobbies, I do so enjoy it. Like you have worn many hats and still have a few balancing (smile) I am not a wonderful quilter and not very fast also, but I do love to share with like minded people especially from all parts of the world. I dont know what the weather is like in your part of the world, but, here in UK its feeling very cold and could snow I think. Look forward to hearing from you - Best wishes for the Christmas Season Marianne

Hi, Mary...Jacque e-mailed me to tell me that you and Jody T stopped by her booth at the shop hop over the weekend. Did you find lots of goodies? I'm excited for the new mystery project. I think we're about to get going on it. Not as many people signed up this time, but that's o.k. After we post our pictures, they'll wish they had!! Hope the roads weren't too bad for your travel to the shop hop. I know I'm sick of commuting this winter. Have a great week.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Have a great day. How much snow do you have over in your part of the state? I'm not looking forward to yet another round of this stuff they say we're supposed to get next week. Hurry spring.
Mary, I hope you got back to the motel o.k. after Eleanor Burns. Did you get a poster? Nancy and I were ready to get home and didn't want to stand in line any more. I am going to get one of those scallop rulers tomorrow. Sure enjoyed meeting you and I'm glad you came along to eat at the Shed. I sure hope you find your pink card.
