About Me
I am a cancer survivor. Quilting helped me fight the brave fight and now I love quilting and try to do some sewing nearly every day. I am co-leader of a Monday night quilt group called Stitching Pals. I have three rooms called The Hen House set up in my home where we "hens" shaire what we know and make some charity quilts. We do Wing It Wednesday on the last Wednesday of every month so the ladies are coming today for sewing. We had a ribbon cutting ceremony in Octover with chicken themed food served. We have show and crow or cackle when an item is finished. I am busy planning a new eggstravaganze where we will be making quilts from 2 1/2 inch strips of fabric from my huge stash in the near future. Always looking for hen themed ideas. We have so much fun and as I am a widow it sure helps me with my lonliness issues. Aren't women amazing?

Fellow Material Girls

Glad to be able to get back to you ladies. Have been receiving nearly daily treatments at the Luther Midelfort Mayo Clinic here in Eau Claire. Slow process but the lymphedema is lessening. Hopeful but discouraged because they took away my quilting and knitting Frustrated but loving hearing from you all and enjoying your photos of accomplishments. Gee how I miss being creative.

Maybe soon they will allow me to have fun...otherwise they might just as… Continue

Good morning. Just sitting her and looking at more of the groups that are out there. I posted the Material Girls and am waiting for more friends. Just had a thought. I love Jo Morton stuff and am currently in a class with two of my friends at a quilt shop in Eau Claire WI. We are learning so much and I'm loving the fabric. I never worked with those dark, rich colors before and I am really liking them.

Today I need to finish getting borders on a quilt that needs to be done by next… Continue

The Hen House

Good morning fellow quilters. I just wanted to drop an eggcellent idea and let you know what I did with my very large family room, a small office, and a bedroom in my basement. I purchased my home in November of 2007 and left all of this space empty for nearly a year as I thought how best to use it. My home is bigger than one woman and her little dog really need but I loved the move from country to city and the convenience of being nearer to family and friends.

After much though I… Continue

Mary Jane, Saint Nazianz is about 15min west of Manitowoc which is on the lakeshore between Milwaukee and Green Bay. Thanks for the compliments on my quilts. I have been busy lately piecing some quilts to use them for samples for my Longarm Quilting business. Just starting out I need to get some samples so that people can see my work. Just getting start but loving life! Happy Quilting!

I tried to add our group under the group heading but no success. It also kept telling me we had 1 member and I couldn't find a place to change it. I've also tweeked the Stitching Pals website so people will understand better how it works and how to go to the other pages.

Didn't know I'd need a picture and this is all I had. I like your website, will have to think about setting one up myself. Or did I just do that?

Great website! Loved making "HIdden Wells" at Stitching Pals. It is so fun as you don't know what it will look like until you are finished sewing it together. See you tonight. Hope you are feeling better and having some success in reducing the swelling!

Hi, Mary Jane, Good to know you try to keep at it. Can't keep a good quilter down. Right now I'm sort of in limbo with my sewing room and I have much I would like to do. I have a Do-It-Yourself Round Robin with my guild that's do in February, a Birthday Banner I saw in a mag that I'd like to try for my grandkids, and I signed up for the Southern Stars Block of the Month. May have to bring my sewing machine up tothe kitchen! Keep warm!

Mary Jane,
In 1978, I had an adverse reaction to birth control pills and for the next 15 years, suffered from 8 blood clots. The damage to my blood vessels was what created the next stage - Lymphedema. Fluid in your legs are normally absorbed back out thru the blood vessels, but because of the damage to my leg, it cannot.

I received my first treatments at Mayo Clinic (Rochester, MN) in 1997 and kept my leg "in control" until April 2005. I became sick with a staph infection (front & back of leg), which took 5 months to recover from. Basically left me with no feeling in my leg, inflammed tendons in my feet and mobility challenges. It's a daily struggle - would be nice to have more neutral days than to have one or two energized days and others where I can barely get out of bed.

Needed to increase my mobility (for sanity) and hoping to acccomplish this through weight loss. Spark People has been the support system that I've needed all my life!

I LOVE you hen house!!! And Chippewa Falls....my first thought, my dad built a shopping center there! hahaha

Look forward to getting to know you!

Hi Mary Jane,
Love my statler. It really is a lot of fun to work with. I love to sew, but this is my time. I' m alone--no kids ( I do day in my home in the day time), no noise but me and the machine. Some time I have the music up and sing with the oldies. No kids, and the hubbie wears hearing aids. I can have the music as loud as I like. Then if every thing is going well with the pattern, I can even sit and sew while the machine is quilting. The big thing is, that I get to see all the beautiful quilts that every one else makes. They are really beautiful. And I love to see there faces when they pick them up. Between the two jobs, day care and quilting, I keep pretty busy. Are you going to the quilt show in April? I'm taling my husband in to going again. We went on a bus last year and that is the only way to go. They pick you up and take you to eat and take you to the show (frone door), and pick you up and take you to eat and take you home. Nice day. Hope to see you there. Temp here was 12 below this morning. Tooooo cold.

Evening, Mary Jane - that's my mom's name as well! Evansville is a nice town. If you've come down Hwy 14 from Madison you've passed our business - Harvard Corp. - right as you come into town, across from NAPA Auto Parts. A group of quilters in town had a little quilt show last year; it was really nice.

My short arm quilter is a Viking Mega Quilter with an Inspira Frame. I've only used is a few times but it turned out to be more fun that I expected. It'll do for the small-sized quilts I make. They've come out with a new frame which seems sturdier, though mine is pretty good. They've also come out with a computerized module but its $2995.00 - too pricey for me and the little I do. I enjoy doing quilting with my embroidery machine; it's a Janome 11000 and I love it.

Well, good evening to you! Gail

Hi Mary Jane,
My little Shih-tzu is the new momma. She surprised us at how good a mother she is making Our Male is a good daddy, he sits and watches the puppies, tries to smell them and momma lets him as long as he does not try to get in with the pups. The two of them get along great, my male is laid back and lets momma get her way most of the time. The pups are so cute, and are growing fast.We have 3 boys and 2 girls. All are party colors. One is white with light cream spots. All are going to be gorgeous. Our Bassett wants to see the pups but momma will not let her in the room. She will have to wait until the pups are running around on their own.
