I really like the Civil War repros also. There are a lot of other fabrics that go nicely with them. I have the SBS book, but don't know if I will ever get to it. I think I would like to make it with all different shades of purple and soft greens.
Thanks for the comment on my "Spinning..." quilt. If I remember correctly the name of the pattern was Spiral Log Cabin. It's not that difficult if you plan your colors and have some experience with foundation piecing.
I love your new blocks. Did you change the one that you weren't sure about? I thought it was pretty as was, but you could always use a design to change it while quilting. Don't know if that would work? Just laid in bed thinking about possibilities last night. Hope your Thanksgiving is Happy!
Hi Maryam, I was just admiring your SBS blocks. I love your fabric choices and the way you fussy cut some of them really adds to the charm. I'll be looking forward to seeing the finished quilt.
I have a lot of those days that I mess around and don't get anything done. I've been trying a lot harder to get to my sewing room. I feel so much more productive overall if I have a quilt to show for my efforts (at least is tangible evidence that I did something, cleaning the house doesn't count as the house tends to look just as bad or worse within a day or two). I did get all the way up to step 7 (which is where I'm supposed to be). I started on that step, but didn't get done.
You are probably getting ready to move, and that takes a lot of effort. Hopefully you'll get to sew some anyway. Have a happy Thanksgiving yourself.
Maryam, The fabrics for the mystery quilt are various shades of pink, a large pink and brown floral on a light pink background, a darker pink with a pale pink floral and a very pale pink on pink dot fabric. I wasn't thrilled with them when they first showed up, but they've grown on me. The quilt has been fun, but I'll admit some of the instructions aren't as clear as I'd like, I'm hoping that I've constructed all of the pieces correctly. Guess I'll find out as a work through the rest of the instrutions.
Maryam, Thank you for the compliment on the Eskimo Joes quilt. It's been a long time since we lived in Stillwater. We are currently living in Bartlesville. We moved back to OK from the Houston, TX area about 4 years ago. I don't miss the traffic or the commute. Good luck on your move. I've never been to Wichita, but I've heard that there are several quilt shops there.
Hi Maryam,
That's great, Wichita! We can meet sometime in Tulsa or something. That would be fun. I just hate moving, though, be nice to all your fabric. Oh, I was just looking at your Slacker's blocks, they are great. I have kind of slacked on those lately, I need to get back to it. And you are using the wonderful Civil War fabrics! I love them. They're so much fun.
Hoppy quilting!
Maryam I am very impressed with all your wonderful block patterns! Especially like the bags! I see you are in the Stack n Whack group - me too, except not active yet. I do follow because eventually will be trying the technique. I bought the books on how to!
