"SUNSHINE"

After 8 days of rain, the sun appeared here in New York City around 2:30 this afternoon. I hope it stays a while. We have had a very wet, cool spring this year. Lots of time to stay in and quilt but it does get you down. I love the sunshine. Hope you are all enjoying this Sunday

Return to Reality

I just spent a week of vacation in Virginia. I had a great time and enjoyed seeing all the relatives who have moved there. No quilting but I was so busy I didn't miss it. Now on to all my UFOs and a few new projects. Seem like summer has arrived in NYC at last.

Spring in The Big Apple

A beautiful day here in NY. I went to my guild meeting in Brooklyn this morning. The Show and Tell was wonderful, so many talented quilters. On my terrace, I can smell someone's bar-b-que grill so hopefully the winter is finally over. I'm going to walk on the boardwalk and catch some rays now. Happy Spring to all!

Happy New Year

Today I am straightening out my sewing area too. We must all have the same idea to start the New Year with a clear cutting table. I worked on a small wall hanging last night, an appliqued tea pot. My goal today is to at least put away the fabric that is all over. Then off to dinner with my relatives. So happy I found this blog. I wish you all a Happy, Healthy New Year 2009, Maryann

Hi Maryann,
Have you had any luck finding people to chat with? I go in throughout the day but seldom find anyone chatting. I did get to talk to a couple of people today which was nice. Later n the evening I find there are more chatters. You mentioned that you belong to the Long Island Quilters. Where on Long Island do you meet. When I went to NYC a couple of years ago we stayed in Bayside. I love living on Long Island and missed living there when we came back home. Hampton Bays was such a nice area.
Hope to catch you in chat.

I wanted so badly to do Minnie Mouse, but I ran into a major obstacle yesterday. I had no time to deal with making or getting something until very recently, I had it all planned out that yesterday after watching my oldest grandson, that I would go shopping to get what I needed. I live twenty minutes out of town and my daughter's family is in town. The transmission went out on my van at my daughter's house! Because my DH was super busy with something and didn't have much time, he had to pick me up and we went right home. No time to shop. I was very sad. I got rid of so much stuff around the house in the last year, a lot of my craft supplies and such, and I have no 'real' amount of yardage left of my materials, so making something is going to be rather limited. I finally decided on being a bag of jelly beans. We actually had some really large clear garbage bags from preparing to move, then I have a box of party supplies, including balloons of various colors, and some curling ribbon leftover from my gift wrapping supplies. We had some large self sticking labels leftover from our old business (almost got rid of them when we sold everything off, but at the last minute DH decided to keep them), so I am using that for a label. It's not exactly what I had in mind, but will have to do! My oldest daughter felt terrible about my van going out at her place, she wanted to cheer me up by showing my the costume she designed for her and her son; they ar going as the Chiquita banana lady and her son is the banana! It is very appropriate because my grandson's favorite food is bananas. It's really adorable!

Thanks Maryann. I ran into a bit of a pickle now. I waited all week to make a run to town to do my shopping and I was so excited to go today, I had nothing planned after I watched my grandson for a while and today was the first chance all week I had to be able to take my time and shop. Then my van broke down, and we live twenty minutes from town. My husband needs his vehicle, so I can't use his and I don't have a lot of stuff to work with in the house. I'm sure I'll figure something out. At least I know my oldest daughter and son are doing something really cute; she's going as the Chicquita banana lady and her son as a banana!

Thanks, Maryann. This is a group project of my bee last year. 12 of us made the same block every month for somebody with their fabric choice. It was a fun project to do with my bee.
