Profile Information

About Me
As the Connecting Threads Art Director, I design the magazine ads, web graphics, and other promotional materials and oversee the overall look of Connecting Threads. Most importantly, I design a lot of our exclusive fabric collections. Designing fabric is definitely one of the most fun and challenging things I've ever done!

I learned to sew garments from my mom when I was 12, but I only started quilting in 2008 (lured in by designing quilting fabric and working with so many talented quilters!). I love bright colors and lean toward a modern, geometric quilting style, though I also have a soft spot for applique and embroidery. Along with sewing and quilting, I am also an avid knitter.
My Website
http://indigomouse.net
Hobbies and Interests
quilting, applique, paper piecing, machine quilting, embroidery, general sewing, knitting
My Pets
Two huge tabby cats (Apollo & Artemis) and an old Weimaraner named Duncan.

Binding foot frustration

First of all, thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes. I should have read them yesterday when I was getting so frustrated on my sewing project. They would have perked me up!

I just bought a Bias Binding Foot for my Babylock Crafter's Choice machine, and I cannot for the life of me figure out how it works. The instructions on the Babylock site are like two sentences long with no illustrations. ARG! I even Googled it and tried to follow a video I found, but it didn't work. I was afraid that a… Continue

Corners are on

Thanks to all of you who offered your 2 cents on my corner fabric indecision. Guess what? I ended up going with the "none of the above" choice and bought new fabric. I happened to be at Crafter's Warehouse for their big anniversary sale last weekend. (Don't ask me how I got there. I blacked out, and when I woke up, I was putting sale FQs into my cart. LOL.) Anyway, I found a 30s print that had the turquoise color I liked but with white flowers that echoed the Dresden plate shapes with bits of re… Continue

Help me choose corner fabric!

I've been working on my kitchen wall hanging, and I realized that I forgot to choose a fabric for the corner blocks when I picked out all my other fabric!

These are my options that I pulled from my stash:

Help me choose please:

Gifts for baby Tyler

We had Teri's baby shower on Tuesday, and I couldn't resist making baby Tyler a few things. I love the Cutie Booties pattern from Amy Butler's Little Stitches for Little Ones book, and since having Alice, I know first hand that these booties actually stay on little baby feet, so I made a pair for Tyler.… Continue

I spent until 11:30 last night reading through the book that you gave to me (The Quilter's Ultimate Visual Guide). I was amused at the section on pressing (to steam or not to steam). This quilting stuff is serious business for some. I have so many projects that need finishing, many more ideas floating around in my head, and not enought time to make it all happen. Hmm, that seems to be a recurring theme for me. Is it wrong for me to use work as an excuse for not being very productive in the home arts area? Oh, I did find time in my busy day to place a CT order. You know, just in case I finish all those UFOs and find myself with nothing to do!

Hello Melissa~ What an awesome talent- designing fabric. Now that is something I'd like to do, but I wouldn't even know where to begin!
There are so many wonderful talented quilters on here (CT) that it takes a lot of time to get to each and every page.
Did you get this wall hanging finished? I'd love to see it!

I will check out those site and see what I can find. Do you think they may have them at the local fabric store??

I am going to be adding some more pictures of Haley's quilt and I made some aprons yesterday for Haley and my two nieces for a baby shower tomrrow. They are going to be our helpers, so I made them similar half aprons to help us serve. It is my sister-in-laws shower, so it should be fun. I also made her a baby quilt, which I am finishing today. I am working on the binding, ugh! lol

Yes, at least the ones I have taken a picture of. I always forget to take pictures before I give them away. I just watched the video on English paper piecing, looks like fun.

How is Alice? She is so cute.
