About Me
I'm in charge of developing and merchandising all Connecting Threads' products, including new fabric collections. I learned to sew garments from my mom when I was 12, but I only started quilting in 2008 (lured in by designing quilting fabric and working with so many talented quilters!). I love bright colors and lean toward a modern, geometric quilting style, though I also have a soft spot for applique and embroidery. Along with sewing and quilting, I am also an avid knitter.

Hobbies and Interests
quilting, applique, paper piecing, machine quilting, embroidery, general sewing, knitting
My pets are awesome!
Two huge tabby cats (Apollo & Artemis) and an old Weimaraner named Duncan.

Cactus Pincushion for Gifty Galore

Posted on August 17, 2011 at 7:35am 4 Comments

When I saw that Mari had included the book Stash Happy Patchwork in her lineup for the Gifty Galore quilt along, I instantly knew which pattern I was going to make! I made this cute little cactus for my mom (though I'm tempted to keep it myself!). My parents love the Southwest region of the country, they have a band…

Yay for a new sewing machine!

Posted on June 27, 2011 at 12:00pm 18 Comments

My dear hubby decided to contribute half to a new sewing machine for me for an early birthday present, and it arrived on Friday! I got a Juki TL-2010Q just for quilting. Whoo-hoo! We use a Juki in the sewing studio here at Connecting Threads, and many of the staffers own them at home too, so that helped me make my decision. I have to share with you guys because I kept gushing about it to Jason all weekend, but he just doesn't understand.…

Want to sew samples for Connecting Threads?

Posted on May 10, 2011 at 2:35pm 10 Comments

We're looking for a few more sewing contractors to sew our catalog samples. We need the following:   1.  Experienced quilters who love applique and are comfortable with the quality of their applique being shown in detailed photos.  2. Quilters who like to sew dimensional "sewy" projects like bags, home decor items, and even garments.  3. Quilters who have experience quilting small project on their home sewing machines, and are comfortable with their quilting shown for… Continue

A Clarification About Photo Uploads

Posted on January 25, 2011 at 12:39pm 8 Comments

Hi All,

I just talked to Karen (who is still a very active member on this site) because she knows the ins and outs of this social network platform, and I just want to clarify a few things:

  • Photos that show up in the All Photos slideshow on the main page are those that were added to your profile in the box that says "My Photos" when you click "Add Photos".
  • Photos do not show up in the All Photos slideshow if you…

Winter Fun

Posted on September 14, 2010 at 11:00pm 14 Comments

It's so strange to think that I designed the Winter Fun collection this time last year, and it is just now realized in fabric. We work very far ahead in the fabric world! Winter Fun is my third hand-drawn fabric collection, and was one of the last things I did as a fabric designer before I got moved into my current director job. I don't want to say that it's the last collection I'll… Continue

Hello Melissa and CT staff,

Will it be possible in the Fabric selection to put those lines that are no longer available in an 'Archive' or 'Out of Print' section.  That way we don't have to keep on clicking on them to find if they are still available.  For example, last Monday I look for 'Sip of Summer' and found 4 still on sale, and decided to order them as soon as I have the extra cash allowance.  I clicked on it today and there were no more fabrics left.  Same with 'Terra Cotta'.  - JUST A SUGGESTION.

I shop for my fabrics almost exclusively at Connecting Threads.  I love the kits too.

Thanks - Aida from New Hampshire.

Thanks for checking.  For now I'll go with what I have and keep searching for something better.

Hi Melissa. Perhaps you can help.  I am collecting quite a few of the Essential Pro threads.  I am trying to find a good storage box, etc. for them, to keep them dust free as well as easy to see and use. I bought a plastic case (from, shhhh, JoAnn's) that is made for the taller cones. It's great for that, but with the wider bases of the CT cones I can only use about half the box as I have to use every other holder for the thread.  Does CT have anything in the works for a storage system for these threads, or is there something and I've not seen it?

Thanks for your help.

Melissa I tried the things that the tech people said but it did not fix anything.  I just want my photos set back to the way they were before I accidentally clicked the wrong thing.  I want to go to my page and be able to see a slideshow of my 100 photos.  I cannot see them unless I click to open the My Photos folder.  I do not know how to explain that any differently.

Melissa - thanks for responding to my comment about the problem with the designer stories.  It is working fine for me now.

Melissa, I have clicked on something and I cannot see all of my photos on my page.  I would appreciate it if you would check this out and set it back to do a running slideshow of all my photos.  Thank you so much.
