My sewing addiction started with quilts about 10 years ago, when my mom also started the hobby (she had prior sewing experience, but I didn't)...but in recent years I have moved more into smaller projects like bags and household items. I still love quilts, but the small projects are quicker and less expensive, so I can make more of them as gifts for friends!

Thanks, Nikki. I was so pleased with how it turned out and it does seem like just the right size. I'm not a "big bag" person either. I am playing with other fabrics, but I think this one will be my favorite. The one thing I'd do differently next time is to extend the handles deeper into the bag for more support. I'm concerned these might pull out with time, because only 1/4" was sewn into the bag. I may stitch decorative pieces where the handles meet the bag just for added strength. The color isn't quite right in my picture - the front pocket looks a little pink to me in the picture, but the reds match perfectly in real life. :0)
Thanks for the comment on my shopping bag...I plan to fill it with lots of treats at the AQS show in DSM next month. You have a lot of cute projects in your picture gallery. I did about 20 notebook covers last year for gifts. When I find something I like I tend to make it in mass quantities!!
