Quilt Tree revisited

Posted on February 15, 2011 at 1:20pm 0 Comments

Perhaps I didn't explain it properly. Lets try again.....Send 2 6" inch squares to each of your 4 friends along with the letter and 2 6" inch squares to the person on the top of the list in the letter.  Eventually you get to the top of the letter and people send you 6" squares.  The math is a little bit more than I have time for but even if you don't get back anything your only out 8 6" squares of material which is really not much to give away and if you do get something back (even if its a…

Quilt Tree

I have just received a letter from my ONE actual (not virtual) quilting friend.  The idea is to send two 6" charm squares to the four people on top of the list along with a copy of the letter after you add your name to the bottom of the list.  At the end, if all goes well, you end up with 72 6" squares to make a quilt.  While I would very much like to do this as I said above I only have one real Quilting friend and shes already in it.  So the question is would anyone out there like to be on…

Machine Quilting

Posted on January 10, 2011 at 9:05am 7 Comments

One of my goals this year is to learn machine quilting  so far it is going okay.  My biggest problem seems to be getting the top of the quilt basted tight enough to the other layers to avoid the fabric folding at the point where two quilting lines come together...for example, stitch in the ditch around the outside border and there is a small (usually about 1/4 inch) fold at the last corner.  I usually start on one side of the quilt and go all the way around ending at the starting point.  Can… Continue

Making big plans for the New Year...practice machine applique, learn maching quilting, make Christmas stockings before Christmas actually arrives, finally get that Betty Boop quilt done for my dad. And of course give thanks for all my blessings everyday!  Hope every one has an awesome New Year!

When it is all set up it is about 10 feet long. But the poles do come apart, and you could get it in your car. The throat is about 10 inches. The frame can hold a double, or full size quilt with the poles it has on it, but you can't do a king.

It has a stich control so you can go as fast as you want or slow. IT has the needle down when stop. it has a walking foot and a nice new open toe foot I just got about a month ago! It has the raised thread holder so the thread doesn't get tangle. It can be control by the foot peddle and it has a knee bar, so if you wanted to sew off the frame!

I am not looking for a embroidery machine right at this time, because the new Bernina I got can up grade to one.

I need to talk to my huband and maybe we could meet half way!  My cell is 515-779-2538 call me this afternoon if you can, say around 4:00 or so. I will be home and can ask him.
