I love quilting, embroidery and knitting etc. I get bored with just one project, so have a few going at the same time and am trying to finish as many as I can. I am a retired grandma with 3 daughters and 4 granddaughters and I love my life.
Hi Pam: OMG, 2 years, not possible, how fast time goes by. It is too bad that you can't get the fabric shipped. I have heard from women in other countries about how expensive their material is. I guess it is all relative, I feel our material is expensive in the quilt stores (that is why I buy from Connecting Threads. I was at a Paducah show one year and ran into a group of women who had flown in from England to attend and mostly to purchase material, they were telling me then (and that was a few years ago) that their material was the equivelant of our $25.00 dollars a yard. They were buying yardage at anywhere from 3.99 to 7.99 while at the show.
Well, Thank You Ms. Pam! I appreciate the kind words. As for TGY, it was a 5 & 10 cents store about 20 years ago. I worked for them awhile in the 70"s and then along came K-Mart and WalMart and now we have Target. They were all family department stores.
I suppose with the shipping costs it would not be a good deal for you to buy and have it shipped to you. I heard someone say that about havings things shipped to England. I know that I have visited some sites that are online stores in Australia, looking at fabric and books and such and decided that I could not afford to buy there. I get a very low income from S.S. and it just barely pays my bills. When I have to do anything extra for the grandies then I run out of money before the month is out.
Well, it is nice to chat and I hope to do it again. Gayle
No Mam, it stands for Louisiana. I am a down south girl, never have been out west yet. I imagine taking the train would not only be able to give you knitting time but you would also be spared road rage. I spend most of my time fussing at and about the people that must have gotten their licenses at TGY or WalMart.
The challenge is out, lets see how many of us can join the wonderful new campaign called Stitching for Pink !!! Starts today until 30 October. Its gonna be so much fun with 10 projects to complete. Come on Embroiderers lets unite and join the fight against Breast Cancer !!!
Pam, you will find the pincushion pattern either at the top of the Gifty Galore Quilt Along page or in the Free Patterns under the Freebie tab at the top. I think either way will work. If you have more problems finding it, send me another note.
