About Me
I'm a mom of five and a nana of eight at the young age of forty-eight. I'm a self taught quilter who has gone back to school. My true passion is quilting, it has been an addiction since I got my first machine a few years ago and thought to myself "I think it'd be nice to make some pillows". Pillows turned into a huge stash of fabric, mostly nonsensical at first, and has now turned into a beautiful creative outlet. I meet some genuinely warm kind people of all ages because of my skill. I love it!
Hobbies and Interests
quilting, applique, paper piecing, hand quilting, machine quilting
My pets are awesome!
I have three cats who think they're people

My son Jon

My son Jon has been in a near fatal accident and has been through a lot the past few days but is hanging in there. If any of my quilting sisters want to check on his progress and leave a prayer for him I've opened a caringbridge.org site http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/jonallaire

I guess I'm out of shape

Posted on July 20, 2010 at 10:02pm 5 Comments

I guess I'm out of shape. Does it really happen overnight? It seems like just yesterday I was able to hold hands with my Gkids and skip down the sidewalk...now..I don't think so, that's too much jumping..and jarring, someone could get hurt. When I got up after sitting for awhile today.. I made the same sound my granny made when I was little. You know the one.. And the gray....please..where did they come from?? Oh well, aside from pulling a muscle in my neck in Yoga class today I guess it's not… Continue

Computers and phones

Posted on July 16, 2010 at 9:12am 4 Comments

The link between computers and phones is apparently a blessing and a curse. I can receive my emails on my phone and didn't realize that if I deleted messages from it that they would be erased from my home computer as well. If you sent me a message and I didn't reply it's because I can't find the darn thing. I know there were a couple so please don't think I was being rude..just technically challenged..lol. Hope everyone is having a great day!

Amazing what Jon has gone through and is continuing to go through.  He is so blessed to have you for his mother.  I just can't imagine.  Your faith will see you through this and God will shower you will His blessings and grace.  Thank you for sharing with me.

I have been sewing all day.  Finally decided to call it a night.  I sure do hope to get this quilt top I am working on finished tomorrow.  That would be great, then on to the back.  Have a restful night.

Blessings,

Linda

Thank you for your kind comment Pat. I don't get on as much as I used to but still try and catch up about once a week.

I can't imagine what your son went through, mine was bad enough.  How is he doing now? What age is he?   The younger they are the faster they snap back but that doesn't lessen the pain any.  Nightmare is a good word, If it hadn't been for my faith in God I could have never made it through.   I was actually released yesterday by my surgeon.  He gave me a cortisone shot in my knee and told me I am good to go.  I am going to follow up with  my neurosurgeon now because my back and hip are hurting from going so long being non weight bearing and now walking.  I wish it was all over but still dealing with issues, however, it is nothing like it was months ago.  Thank God!!

Yes a sense of normalcy is back and it is a blessing.  I pray that Jon is doing well and will not have ongoing problems but will heal up well.  Blessings, Linda

Thank you Pat. It is very kind of you to suggest it to me. I haven't found fabric yet as many other projects came up since. Have a blessed day! Lanie

Pat, I can't begin to imagine what you are going through. It is indeed a parent's worst nightmare. Although there is little anyone can say or do, please know that I do care, think about you often, and continue to keep you and Jon in my prayers. He must be a very strong young man and he is blessed to have such a devoted mom. God has brought him this far and He will continue to take care of all of you. Hugs and prayers, Carol

Pat I am still praying for you all. I hope Jon is still improving daily. I read from the bridge and see that he is recognizing teacher and showing that he knows people.
Have faith and stand tall and remember that God is in control.(((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))

Hi Pat, sorry it's taken so long to comment back, life got in the way, lol. The only cut out on the hawaiian quilt is the top. The background fabric stays solid. Even after your design is appliqued to the background, it stays solid. I will post some pics of the process soon.

Well Pat, let Owen know that all the animals are safe - I would never put them in danger. The gerbil family lives on the dining room floor and the cats all love to watch the gerbil activity. The gerbils are used to it.

Scarface, the rat, loves to tease my kitten. If I put him on the daybed with me, he hides from the kitten until she finds him. Then he runs out and chases her. It's pretty funny to watch. None of the other animals are even interested in the rat.

The animal that gets the most attention is the lizard, especially when he runs across the screen lid on his cage. Seems to be irresistible to the cats.

Some of my birds are big and noisy, so the cats and dogs let them alone too. As a matter of fact, when the parrot thought I was hurting another bird, he flew to the ground and chased me around the room, biting my feet. LOL

Pat, thank you for your kind words. Hawaiian quilting is a lot like making paper snowflakes, only with fabric. Your "snowflake" is basted to a background fabric and then hand appliqued and hand quilted. I broke tradition by using several colors. True hawaiian quilts are two colors only. I will be happy to give you any advice if you need it.
