About Me
I am retired and loving every minute of retirment. I enjoy quilting and love to learn/try new areas. I begin quilting a number of years ago as my mother, aunts and grandmother were quilters as was my mother-in-law. I didn't do much until I retired, but I have stayed busy since then. I also like to read and travel.

My husband and I recently celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary. Our three children and four grandsons did a great job of planning and giving a big celebration!! We so enjoyed the day!

Patricia, you had asked about a video showing "sandwiching" a quilt using the wall and the spray basting. in the hand quilting group.  I do not know if you belong to "The Quilt Show" web site, but I do remember that  Patsy Thompson does a demonstration similar to this in one of her videos.

Do you mean the fabric outlet store? No, it's just a small shop, the owner goes to New York city to buy the remnants at the different fashion stores there. If you can give me a description or a picture of the type of lace you want, I can ask her if she could get them for me. I have plenty of lace, but most of them are no longer than 5yards.

There is a fabric outlet store here in NH that sells lace, not sure if there is a batch of 19 yards of the same kind. If there is a Walmart near you that still sells fabrics and crafts, they sometimes carry lace as well.

Hi Patricia, since you read my email the week of Dec 7-11 has me now going in 20 different directions. However, I'm free on Dec 16, 17, 18, 19 Dec. 22. I haven't met with Liz yet. If these dates aren't good for you - or Liz - we can postpone a road trip until after the New Year. I'm going to send a copy of this email to Liz also. I don't want to push a trip if it's going to conflict with things I'm sure we all have to do to get ready for Christmas. I just got the greatest news this morning, my grandson's girlfriend wants to cook Christmas dinner at my son's house in Benton! Woooohooo! Let the younger generation step up to the challenge!

Hi Patricia. It was nice meeting you in chat tonight. You did a very good job with your quilts. I have never completed a full size quilt so that is a project that I would like to accomplish.

Where too next?

Well, I've finished the t-shirt quilt for a friend; youngest ds's quilt; working on hand quilting LS for DD/DSIL; embroidering Twelve Days of Christmas redwork, but I really want to get started on the candlewick quilt blocks I did several years ago. Got to reading the instructions from way back when, and it says to wash the candle wicked blocks in HOT water. Any ideas why? Also was looking for insertion lace to use (need 19 yards) and WOW. . . may have to bypass that. Any suggestions where to… Continue

Well, I came to FL to have warm weather. . . . but I guess I need to keep things in perspective. At least we aren't in the single digits or teens and do have sunshine most of the time. It does look like a warming trend is on the way. I have been working on a red work 12 Days of Christmas. Will try to post a pic when I finish the one I'm working on. Also hand quilting on a Lone Star. Wishing all of my quilting friends a happy and healthy New Year. .

Finished the Lone Star for GS1

Posted on November 9, 2009 at 5:40am 5 Comments

Finally finished the quilting of the Lone Star which my MIL pieced for the oldest GS back in the 80s. Gave it to him for his 25th birthday on Saturday. I could tell immediately that he really isn't familiar with quilt construction - he commented that he was glad the quilt was now "stuffed" Now I'm quilting on the Lone Star MIL pieced for our oldest DD & SIL when they got married - 27 years ago; when I get this one done there is another waiting - one she pieced for our DS and DIL when they… Continue

Well, got the 25th anniversary quilt done; had it LAQ at the local quilt shop. She did a good job; not hand quilted, but DS and DDIL don't really appreciate the hand quilting. . . yet. I"m working on the quilt that my MIL pieced for the oldest grandson. . almost done with it. . I am hand quilting it. Just couldn't see the Lone Star machine quilted. Will post pic when I get it finished.

My next planned project will be a bargello;… Continue
