I have been quilting for about 15 years. My first project was a baby quilt for my first granddaughter. I took a class at the Quilter's Coop in Sanborn, IA and I hand quilted it for her. Needless to say the quilting wasn't the best but hey, you have to start somewhere right? I love to go to new quilt shops and always try to shop hop whenever I go anywhere on vacation. It seems like I don't have a lot of time to quilt but I still buy the fabric so that when I retire I will have plenty to do. I am a huge fan of Holly Taylor fabrics and Gathering Friends quilt patterns. I think they were made to go together!!!
Hi Peggie, So glad to hear you're still seeing the eagles! I went to Hiawatha early this morning to watch DGD in a gymnastics competition and saw one flying over a little pond of water. I wanted to stop the car and just watch. They are so amazing!
I would love to see a picture of the eagle. I love watching the birds! My Dad got me interested years ago. He would tell me the names of the different birds and what sound they make. Now I do this with my grandkids.
Wow! Sewing with a view of a lake! I would never get anything done! I love to watch the birds at our feeder. What a view that eagle must've been! We see more & more of them and I'm so happy their numbers are increasing!
Peggie, Thank you for the comment on my scrap quilt Star Dance. I knew when I was designing it that I had to use my favorite color yellow for the star points. It was a lot of fun to make as well as quilt.
I'm back from Granada! We had a GREAT time! Lots of sewing, laughing, talking, and eating! We really liked the retreat house. Deb & Kevin sure know how to makeover a church!!! I loved the colors and warmth of their Granada Getaway. The work area in the basement is wonderful- and so is the kitchen.
We liked it so much we plan to go back again! Thanks so much for recommending this place!
Peg- I wanted to thank you again for the information you had shared about the Granada Getaway in MInnesota! Because of your suggestion, eight quilting friends and I are headed that way today! We'll be there four days and three nights. WooHoo! Can hardly wait for all that quality sewing time and girlfriend bonding time! Oh, and let's not forget all that delicious food everyone shares while there! :-) So again- thank you for telling me about this retreat spot! ~Marcia
PS I will report more when I get back!
You know what, Lady? You've done some beautiful quilts. I was just looking through your pics. Your eye for color is amazing. I'm proud to call you my BFF!! See ya at Guild Monday night where I will be sitting in the peanut gallery! YEAH!
