Spinning, Spiders and Quilts

One of my quilting groups met today. Ginny is working on a quilt to go with her mother's oriental carpets and artwork. Here's a photo of the quilted portion of one of her pillow shams. (I taught her to quilt! I'm so excited about her progress.)

I'm making progress on DH's Fair Isle sleeveless cardi! My ne… Continue

Vintage Stitchers

Yesterday we had the regular scheduled meeting of Vintage Stitchers. We met at Janet's house. Here's Janet with her current project:

Janet is showing off a copy of Hop To It by Edyta Sitar, which most of us have bought. I'm going to use the bunny block for a baby quilt.

A Long Post for a Fantastic Class!

I can't believe what a weekend it was! Knitting teacher and musician Lucille Reilly came in Thursday, driving all the way from the Denver area. I awaited her arrival at the home of my friend Barbara (one of several Barbaras, actually, who are my friends). Barbara has a nice guest room with a queen-size bed, and she had agreed to let Lucille stay with her, which gave Barb some extra live-in help on her scarf if she needed it. She was the star pupil, though, so didn't need it, although she had a h… Continue

Gnomes and Fairies!

Here's my current now-active project (once a UFO), the Oregon Socks:

My little friend has been with me for years, and he wanted to help me display my Oregon socks. He became faded a few years ago, so I used paint to touch him up. You can see how grateful he is! These socks are… Continue

Homeward Bound

As you read this, we are on the road somewhere between Kimball, Nebraska, and Kimball Junction, where I-80 meets Hwy 224, which leads to Park City. In other words, we'll be home soon!
What have we been doing since my last blog post? We left the KOA near Mishawaka, IN, and our DS the elder and DIL, but not before Rocky learned to play tetherball:

Peggy, yes I make my own baskets. Some of them were from kits though. I really had a great time basket weaving.

Hi Peggy, tried loading up the photo of the rocking horse wallhanging top I completed, but couldn't find it on my photos in the computer, but I attached the original photo to this letter and when you have time, you can go to my page and see the final results. happy quilting!( don't forget Champion's thursday quilt)

Glad you enjoyed Ann Champion's blog. There is a new quilt that comes out of the cupboard every Thursday. She has analized it and put her own spin on the quiltmaker. I love it! There are about 6 books that I am in constant reference to. They are out of print,(I think) except for one by B. Brackman.I attended a meeting that had an antique quilt spokeswoman(think it was just to sell her new spin on an olde pattern). she had some of my books on her reference list!! I recently bought a book on Wisconsin quilts and found a darling little rocking horse quilt that was made in the 30's/40's by some woman hired to work during the depression. I have made my own wallhanging from it and hope to get a photo of the finished product today. I have been into whimsical lately, don't know why!!!! but this one i couldn't resist! nice chatting with you. boy, quilting everything by hand!!.....you are my hero!!

I absolutely adore antique quilts.....there is an untimeliness about them, a comfort about the colors...speaking of which, what color did you use for your ''pink'' in the Ohio Stars? It is so perfect that at first glance I thought it was the real deal! On my ''to do'' list is an Ohio Star, and yours may just be the momentum I need! I am trying to travel different aspects of quilting, you know, contemporary, etc. and I am studying those designs. quite interesting...but antique quilts still make my heart beat faster. Google... Ann Champion...she has a great blog about her quilts in her cupboard. Be prepared for a treat. let me know how you like it.

your quilts are just beautiful. when you make a quilt you really make a quilt, lot of tiny pieces, lots of handwork in all of them, you do a most beautiful job, love all your quilts. hope your thumb heals fast as then you can make some more beautiful quilts..you are an inspiration.

one really good thing ... both of my children and my DH asked if we could get a puppy from the same guy on the same day. If we're going to have a dog this size at least we all agreed on it.

My dog is going to be HUGE though. I was just feeding his mother for her owner and going Oh My God! Something that is going to get bigger than that (I hope) is living in MY HOUSE! hehehe. Gotta love it.
Do you have many little garden gnomes?
