Power is on!

Posted on September 1, 2011 at 7:24pm 12 Comments

Hurricane Irene wrecked a bit of havok here on the pond in Maine ~ we lost power midday on Sunday and got it back on yesterday.  It was a challenge trying to keep the refrigerator running enough to keep from spoiling anything and luckily we have friends with an empty freezer to pop our stuff into!! I took my 'bath' in the pond ~ it was not tooooooo cold!! LOL!!

When you have no electricity, you realize how much you take it for granted! I couldn't do anything!  I thought I might do…

It's been a very long long time!

My goodness!  When I logged on to check an email from a friend I realized that it has been ages since I have posted to my page!! I had no idea!  I try to read all of the posts made to my groups but I don't always take the time to comment. I need to change that!

This past year has simply flown by but I can account for my absence.

I have been busy designing and making samples and publishing and selling patterns.

I have done a bit of traveling to see the sights and to…

Someone sent me a message on MY PAGE so I came over here to read it and that's when I noticed that I had not posted since February 5th!! Where has the time gone? I swear the older I get the faster time passes! Why is that I wonder? I sign-in everyday to read all the posts in my groups but I often forget to go to the MAIN PAGE to see what everyone is doing. I've only been hitting that about once a week! I will try to do…

Barb,

My name is Catherine Black,

I would like to be re-instated to the Embroidery Group. Posted under the name of Janae. My life is not as hectic and I would be able to participate more.

Thank You.

Hi Barb, long time since I seen you on QWU.  I'm not as active on here as I once was.  Life gets in the way of our play time.  I do post now and then and talk to some of my qwu friends on FB.  How is your business going?  In May of 2014 I was hospitalized for two weeks with my left leg totally blocked with clots.  It still bothers me to sit too long but I'm grateful I'm not where I was last year this time.

This year the end of January Bud had two strokes.  He was in hospitals and a nursing home for four months.  He is home but not sure for how long. He is a lot of care for me.  We are moving to senior housing the end of this month or the first of July.  It will be so much easier taking care of him on one floor.  And I won't have as much space to keep clean.  I hope all is well with you and your family ~ Irene

Hi Barb, I love your tierra pic.  I'm back up to my ole tricks of too much to do but no time to do it.  My mother is 87 and while she has all her wits about her she has fallen now for the 9th time the last year or two.  I help her a lot and she sometimes works me to death besides but of course I wouldn't have it any other way.  Wondering if there are any doll groups here?  I made a doll last year and this year but I'm horrible at it.    Need to re-load my EQ since my computer crashed probably a year or more ago and I've never gotten around to it.  Never gotten around to many things lately.

Hi Barb. I'm touching base with you while I wait for a client to come. I haven't seen hide nor hair of you in a long time so just want to tell you "your missed". I know you are more then likely up to your eyeballs in work, sewing up a storm and trying to get as much Summer fun in as possible. Take care....

Barb, if I remember correctly, you had told us at one time where to purchase the handles for the purse, Sassy Snappy, that you can change out. I think I want to get some to make my sister a purse and cannot remember where to look. Thanks!

I agree Barb, having time with friends and spending the rest of the day in the sewing room does not get better then that. I called the Viking Gallery in Bangor yesterday. I'm thinking about buying their newsest sewing/embroidery machine. My son wants to buy my house so if he does, I want to upgrade my sewing machine. I'm 69 and figure this will be the last upgrade. I'm still keeping my Designer 1. I have had it for 10 years and its still a great machine but not so user friendly as the newer ones that use the "stick". Mine uses a floppy disk.  The newer machine will have a large bed for quilting which will be a big "plus".  Regardless of whether my son buys my house or not, it's going on the market. So whenever it sells, I'm treating myself to a new machine.
