About Me
I love to hand-quilt. Tried to convert to machine quilting--but just can't do it. I even bought a frame to use with my home machine to machine quilt with--but don't use it. I've been quilting for the past 10 years. I have a love for quilting magazines...and books! (even though I know I'll never get them all made!!) I am married, and have two kids - boy, 11; and a girl, 6. My daughter has been sewing with me since she was about two and has her own machine now and occasionally sews with mine as well. She loves crafts, & sewing. She is my "mini me". I currently have one quilt I'm making for a coworker. Her mother started it and then passed away. My coworker is now a grandma...and I told her her granddaugher needs something her great-grandma started. It's a dresden plate--and turning out to be one of my favorites!!! I also have one other quilt in progress--and one waiting in the wings for my daughter. (and countless others in my sewing room waitting their turn).

Long time!!

It seems like it's been forever since I posted on here.   Maybe some of you can identify with two children in school, their activities both church and school related...& then working full time, coming home and working some more... only to feel wiped out at the end of the night and just want to crash. (add to all of that--that I've been a single mother for the last 7 months)    I haven't been getting a lot of quilting done--but I do work on it whenever I can even if it's for just 5-10 min…

Special Deliveries - Almost done!

I've been spending much of the last two weekends working on two quilts for my co-worker, Sharon. Sharon's mother used to quilt...and when she passed away Sharon gave me a box of unfinished quilts, mainly squares. When Sharon became a grandmother herself--I couldn't resist creating a quilt for her granddaughter using the dresden plate blocks Sharon's mother started. Sold my Frame--now to buy a new sewing machine?

I've sold my Handi-Quilter II frame! Finally!! I've contemplated buying a new machine...now to decide which one. "Test drove" the Bernina Quilters Edition on Saturday----LOVED IT! Anyone have anything they can share about the Bernina brand....or this particular model? Just curious as I continue to ponder whether or not to buy.... It's not a cheap one! But will likely be the last machine I buy!

Renae, you might want to check out the Around The Frame quilt group here. We're all hand quilters and have some great discussions -- everything from batting, to thimbles, to finding the perfect bra!  Some of us check in often, others only occasionally.

Renae, let me ponder a bit. I'm on Spring Break (teach at a community college) and am heading out for a mini-vacation with my mother. The price sounds right, etc., and I've looked on-line at the web page. Is it big enough to do king-size quilts? If I decide to take it (and I'm really leaning in that direction), how do you propose we do the exchange? You're up somewhere in the Dakotas, right? I'm in Central Iowa. Keep me posted--but I won't be back until Sunday, the 14th.

How much are you asking for your frame? Do you have the frame that the machine sits on? I'm simply toying with the idea of getting into home "long-arm" quilting using my new machine so I can quilt my own pieced projects. What didn't you like about it other than it wasn't hand quilting. Too cumbersome? Too difficult to control?

If you do not get a buyer here you might try Ebay. I know how you feel. It took severe pain in my right hand to go to machine quilting. Now I save hand work to special projects.
