Spring is on it's Way...I Know it is!!!

We've been having really nice weather, at least for here in this part of Colorado! Warm temps, sunshine and the hope of green popping it's head from the dry dead grass of winter...then bam! Another snowstorm! The one really good thing I can think of that I appreciate this storm for is this: it does get a person who's been tempted with plants and green growing things, to think QUILTS again, really fast! LOL! Think I'll put on some hot chocolate and get some pattern books out...what kind of… Continue

I'm in the UFO group here because I have...guess what...MANY UFO's to finish...they call to me from their cozy, but lonely vigil inside of a huge white cupboard...not yelling, but softly, gently, understanding of course that I will get to one of them eventually, but in the meantime, on my way to the cupboard to pick which one will win this time, I spy a loose pattern sheet that catches my eye from the corner setting on a table...just a tiny bit from underneath other papers...I turn back to the… Continue

2010 ALREADY??????

Posted on December 31, 2009 at 6:10am 2 Comments

Okay, so I'm at the chiropractor yesterday getting an adjustment and in conversation, he asks me what my plans are for New Year's? Plans? Are you kidding? I'm still looking at my Christmas lights...partying? Not for this quilter...now a party of fabric, more thread, a pattern or two, and throw in some handwork on an applique project and I'm at that party! In an unrelated conversation with my DH, he reminds me that he has Friday off work for New Year's and asks me what I want to do...again I'm… Continue

Oh no! I wasn't even going to think about that baaad word and yesterday I woke up thinking I had to throw all sugar and white flour out of my home...that's a sign that I'm thinking I must cut back and try and get more of my veggies and fruits in now...the holidays are always such fun and I enjoy so many things, including the foods...LOL! It's crazy how much I look forward to Christmas and plan and make things for months and then bam! It's here, and then it gone! And the cycle repeats itsself… Continue

Empty Nesting isn't for Sissies!

Posted on December 21, 2009 at 4:43am 7 Comments

I was brave this year, and didn't put out a single ugly ornament from loving small hands created years ago...DH & I are in the process of making new traditions for just he and I as a couple. Our children are all grown and most have families of their own and enjoy their own happy lives...the last thing they need is a sad and lonely set of parents feeling sorry for themselves on this special and wonderful day! So our gift to each other is to become great empty nesters who still love life and… Continue

Ronda, there has been a lot of discussion over in the domestic machine quilters group http://quiltwithus.connectingthreads.com/group/domestichomemachinequilters about paper foundation piecing. I think QWU could really use a group dedicated to paper foundation piecing. Since you have done quite a bit of it, and started the discussion in the Scrap Bag group, I thought you might be an excellent leader to start such a group. What do you think?

I will admit, I made one mini-paper pieced Storm-At-Sea because I had some Noah's Ark Animals which I put in the center of the large block. It talked to me & I decided that Noah's animals were tossed among the sea, so the pattern was fitting (in more than one way).

Thank you for stopping by and checking out my quilts! The "Rainbow After the Storm" happens to be my favorite desing layout (have made several). I'm just a Storm-at-Sea junkie! LOL

Yes Rhonda, it is the Grand Quilter by Pfaff. Let's keep in touch, I'm just starting out with mine. The frame says Pfaff on it too. Your work is beautiful and that memory quilt - WOW! Like the "houses" quilt too.

Ronda, I was just reading your blog about empty nesting isn't for sissy's... you got that right. I determined that as busy as I thought I was, before... I have to make myself get out of the house and get other things on my mind. I've taken more Quilting Classes this year (and its only February!) than I have in the past. Planning a Quilting weekend in April and November. I never realized how tough this was going to be... I only have 2 children 28 and 22, My daughter is good about staying in touch but the boy (22) OOooo I could just smack him sometimes. Plus my daughter has our only grandchild, so she better stay in touch more LOL! I thought for sure that the DH and I would have a few issues, but now I can say that he's taking it very well. My son just moved out about xmas time too. Didn't hit me for a few weeks and then I was just stunned... Nice talk to you... M~ have a great weekend.

Thank you Ronda for the info earlier on the EQ6. It sounds like a very interesting tool. Software is like these electronics... just when you buy one you can afford, they come out with a brand new version... and yours is now obsolete. Just a little leary of them, but it sounds like you have had great success with it so I will put your comments in the pro column!! LOL
