I just noticed you had mentioned Amish shop hop. Do you live in Pennsylvania, if you have any quilt shop recommendations, I would appreciate it. My husband and I are coming to the USA from UK . We will be staying in the Manhattan area of New York for a week, then visiting rotary clubs in Allendale. I would love to visit some quilt shops if that's possible. I hope you don't mind me asking you. Ttfn Marianne x
Rose Mary, glad to bee your friend and thanks for the kind words on my quilt. I saw the pattern (Pennsylvania Sunburst) many years ago and had to buy it. My in-laws were from Pennsylvania. It reminded me of all the beautiful colors in the Pennsylvania mountains in the fall. By the looks of your pictures you have been a very busy quilter. I'm not as brave as you in cleaning my own machine.
Hello Rose Mary....LQS means local quilt shop. I work part time..one day a week. Mondays are when I work, which is why I waited until the 4th to purchase my fabric. No reason to make a special trip when I will be there. We attend a Church of Christ church.
One more day and we get part 2. I am glad that we get each part weekly. Having to wait a month would be a real bummer...waiting a week is hard enough.
Hello Rose Mary....I like your choices. I just got my directions printed and will probably start cutting and sewing tomorrow. Too late to start now.
This will be my second mystery quilt. Third if you count the one that I am doing as a BOM at the LQS that I work at part time. Since I do the cutting I have a idea of what the finished quilt might look like, but I do not know the exact fabric choices until I have to cut the kits.
I know what you mean about turning 50. I got really bummed out last year and my husband and children planned a surprise birthday party for me. It was great. They planned a surprise party for me this year as well, but my DH slipped and let the cat out of the bag. It was still very enjoyable anyway.
Hello Rose Mary....I think it is so neat that our birthdays are so close. I am currently quilting my Weaver Fever. I am also quilting in the ditch and just about all around each rectangle. I am following the color band. Not sure what I will put in the yellow areas or the borders either. Since this is a large quilt I am doing it in sections, so I have time to think about those areas. Once the two halves are done and sewn together I will have to do some serious thinking. I found it great that we think alike. Take care and write again soon. Bonnie
No, no relation to the author. And you do beautiful work as well! You are much more accomplished than me. And is that your Singer cabinet? Do you use the treadle machine? My mom (she's the one holding the pillow in my pics) has one that I'm going to inherit one of these days! Looks exactly like that one.
