cats love sewing too!

My cat loved to be on my sewing table when I was in the room. Once when I was cutting fabric strips he swished his tail and I almost cut it off. Came real close but just cut the fir off the tips. T...

I really is a small world. Have Margie come over and see some of my handi work on my photos. I wish she had a computer! But will diffinetly stay in touch. You stated that you were surfing Fons & Porter....have you been to their shop??? I got there this summer. My friends from Waterloo, Iowa went since Des Moines is only an hour from them. I used to live in Waterloo, IA for about 10 years and go there is visit quilting friends. Take care......

Oh my gosh.....Rosemary...do you actually live in Republic???? My cousin lives in Republic and has for 100 years!!!! You might know them, John and Margie Parker! He owns the barber shop there. My hubby and I come to Branson a couple times a year and try to visit with them. Love to hear from you. Norma

Rosemary, we are lucky to have four shops locally. So you can have a mini shop hop. There is Bittersweet that we already talked about, Block by Block in Carthage (it's in a rock house and close to highway 71 North & Fir Rd exit), Country Store Quilt Shop (at intersection of 71 North and I-44, on SW outer road), and Sew Neat on 20th St. in Joplin. All of them have something different to offer. I listed them in order of my favorites, though I like them all. If you are allergic to cats, beware that Sew Neat has a couple of cats in the shop.

Each of the shops has a unique personality, just like quilters, so I'm sure you'll find one that will become one of your new favorites.

Bittersweet - Jo Morton civil war reproductions, Kansas Troubles, lots of 30's, flannels, batiks, great variety. Good pattern and book selection. Lots of sample quilts.

Block by Block - Florals, brights, batiks, 30's. Great variety, but not much Kansas Troubles or civil war. Kid prints and panels available. Good pattern and book selection. Quite a few sample quilts.

Country Store - Variety. I haven't been there for a while, but they used to have a good variety of novelty prints. Samples also. They have a lot of crafty items for sale made by local crafters.

Sew Neat - Variety. Thimbleberries, soft florals, flannels, novelty prints, good selection of books and patterns. Not too many sample quilts and this shop has a couple of cats.

Hope this information helps you make a plan for a trip down here.

Thank you, Rosemary, for the good wishes for my new sewing room. My family and I drove across Missouri a few years ago and thought it was so incredibly beautiful--especially the Ozarks. Congratulations on your new grandbaby--may each of you be a blessing to the other.
