needing some encouragement

Posted on September 27, 2010 at 3:46pm 11 Comments

I have been working on the Hearts and Tulips BOM by Margarite Docherty since June 2009. I am now appliqueing the border and I feel I will never get finished much less get it quilted. I am also afraid that the first time I wash the quilt everything will unravel and just fall apart and all of this work will have been for nothing. Have any of you felt this way while doing a long term project like this?

Quilting Challenge

Posted on March 12, 2010 at 3:54pm 4 Comments

Oh, what a challenge it is to try to quilt while taking care of my grand-children! I am working on a challenge quilt for the Scrap Bags group. I was trying to get the back put together but I did not get much accomplished. First, I cut off a piece that didn't need to be cut off so I had to sew it back on. Then, I sewed the last piece on wrong sides together and had to rip it all out and resew. Ripping out is my least favorite thing to do. It is just that they need something all the time and I… Continue

Finished

Posted on December 26, 2009 at 4:55pm 2 Comments

Well, by golly, I did get that quilt finished just two days before Christmas. So it was all ready for me to give to my sister on Christmas. She liked it even though it was in shades of pink which is not her favorite color. I will post a picture when I get one.

I hope that everyone had a good Christmas. I certainly did. Three of my sisters and their families plus all of my kids except my eldest daughter who lives in Florida were here. We had a really nice. time.

Not finished yet

Well, here it is Dec. 10 and that quilt I was hoping to get finished by Christmas isn't done yet. I still need to pin the sandwich together and quilt it. So it doesn't look like I will get it done. I have to wait until one of my girls comes to help me with the pinning as it takes me forever to do it by myself not to mention making my neck hurt something fierce. I am disappointed as I wanted to give it to my sister for Christmas but she will just get it a little later that's all.

I participated in the three fabric swap, the first fabric swap on this web-site, I think. Here is a picture of the quilt I made with the fabric I received along with some from my stash. It is called Colors of Creation.

Thanks to all the participants and especially to Luann who did all the coordinating and mailing. I really enjoyed the swap which was my first and hope to participate in another some… Continue

Thank you for inviting me to be your friend.  I would be happy to have you as mine.  I love all your quilts and I am jealous of all your applique work.  I am more a piecer than any other method.  But I love the looks of applique and  I am enjoying my embroidery machine.

Sorry you didn't know about the quilt show. This is my 3rd time to go and really enjoy seeing the quilts and new products for quilting at the vendors. Doesn't Waxahachie have a quilt store? I love to check out shops in the little towns around here. You have some very pretty quilts on your page! 16 bed quilts? wow!
